1er
Pros-
Cheaper by a couple grand
~300 lbs lighter
Faster than the 335i because of weight

Cons-
Some people think it's ugly (I don't)
Used part market is a lot smaller
Wheel choices are limited
Offsets are terrible making it difficult to run wider size tires

Everything else is virtually identical besides looks.

+1 on the wheels choices sucking...hard to find aggressive offsets for the rear.
Personally, the 1 series grew on me ALOT. When I first started looking for a car, I wanted a 335i coupe badly, it looked so nice and sleek, modern and beautiful. But as time passed I started considering the 135i more and more and it definitely grew on me. I absolutely love the rear end. In the end I chose the 1 series because I felt that it looked way better than the 3 series and it was unique. I can go weeks without seeing another 1 series and when I do see one, it's usually just a standard 128i! I love my car, but when it's time to let it go, I'm going to go for a used 335is coupe with low miles. I'd love to experience both cars!!

It is a difficult choice, but choose the one that'll make you happy! And not others!!
