For the vast majority of people the changes are subtle, but for the people who have most of their reputation on the off topic boards and don't have much activity on the main forums they are seeing the wild fluctuations.

Or maybe if we just put the word BMW somewhere in OT posts we get credit for actual car forum post. For example: If I say in the political section " What do you guys think about Trump and the porn star? I wonder she did a BMW to him?" I would get the full points as if I posted in a tech section.
