Don't sand blasting them. Media blast or soda blast it. I do not coat the inside as I do not want the stuff pealing or bubbling underneath and passing though the head. The oil will coat it well and it will outlast the car itself.

This was sent to me by a recent customer. These were his valve covers a local shop attempted to do.
