To me if you're lifting weights, weather for health or other reasons, not including legs in your workout doesn't make sense. When I first started lifting I rarely did legs, just calves. Now I focus on everything and it's incredible the difference working legs does for the overall body.
I think the #1 thing to remember about legs and why they are so important is that your upper torso sits atop them.
