Better than the E39 M5?
I went shopping for a slightly used Yukon Denali or 4Runner and ended up getting a great deal on a really low mileage E36 M3/4/5. I saw it on the lot and told myself I'd like to take it for a spin. I've been kinda hooked ever since. After that, I got myself an E21 and an E30, did tons of tinkering and modding. I boycotted the E46 because it felt too fat to me, and stayed away from the E90 at first because it's ugly as sin, but once the N54 came out, it caught my attention.
I actually wanted a 135i, but it was easier to convince the wife of the practicality of the 4 door 335. Only things I don't like are the looks (can mostly be fixed), the weight, and the constant pain of having something fail. It drives great, but the failure of BMW to address the very valid concerns of its consumers may have made this my last BMW. I do plan on retiring it to "toy" status when the warranty is up, but it would take a helluva lot of convincing for me to trust BMW again.
