Sad as it is to say, I've had more problems with the M3 than my E46 330i, which was pretty much bullet-proof with nearly zero issues. I do believe the quality of materials and fit/finish are worse now vs BMWs of years past. When I drive an F30 335i, it really feels like a hollow box with a ton of wind noise and very plasticky buttons/dash. E46s were so far ahead of their time and I really don't know what happened given how much more the production is automated these days.
