I really don't see why the Camaro can't focus more on the muscle car theme, aka 1/4 mile straight line speed. The Z06 has moved more in the direction of their GT racing program.

Always been a Ford guy myself (domestic wise), but I would seriously consider a Camaro if they added the Magnetic Suspension as an option. Also it would need an interior refresh similar to the C7 improvements.
Z06 is just out of my price range right now, even though it does look to be quite a bargain.
