I would love to pay for the kit, depends on how much. Basically, it does the same thing as you run the wire yourself. Also, some of the 12V plug has circuit board in, so make sure you check that. To answer your "hot start" question, they are the same as your detector, so you dont have to worry too much on that and just make sure you tap into the right fuse. Otherwise, good luck and if you can find more info to help you that would be better.
