I ordered mine through Verizon and it arrived on launch day.
FWIW, for the iPhone 4 and 5, I just walked up to Verizon on launch day and grabbed one. No lines. No hassle.
As a side note, try walking into your local Target. Many of my coworkers have picked theirs up there over the last couple of weeks.
