It's been a superb tool; I've got a 5L sphere one also and like you; trying to empty a 3.0l straight 6 petrol or diesel, it just gets messy with having to stop the flow to empty etc...

I have extended the drain line as it's not long enough to leave the pump on the floor and reach to the bottom of the sump etc

It fits over one of the drain lines that comes with the pump and onto the pump connection perfectly

Means you can have it set like this then:
