Conference number participant codes "release" - is there a way??

On an iPhone, inserting a semi-colon in a phone number string causes the iPhone to prompt you to press a button on the phone to release the subsequent digits. This is useful for conference numbers, where you first dial a phone number, then wait for a prompt to dial in a participant code.
Is there anyway to execute this same 'release" feature using the buttons on the car?
Thanks !

Old question but...I have not found a way to get the embedded dialing commands to work. I have multiple conference call IDs I'd like to use. On my phones, you can have it pause and then punch in the IDs after calling the main number (same main for every con call). But when iDrive collects these contacts, it collapses them all into a single contact and does not understand how to use the dialing commands. It sucks. If you every fins a solution, I'd be interested.
