255/275 PSS or 255/285 something else

Are the PSS tires that much better that one would choose the 275 rear tire of the PSS over a 285 size tire of another brand (Bridgestone max summer variant or P-Zero or AD08?)

Any thoughts would be welcomed. TIA.

I'm trying 265/30/19 and 295/30/19 on my ZCP wheels this week. Will let you know how it goes. Also will see how it goes with newly fitted 4.10 final gears, MS Track Pipes + Pulleys + Intake + BPM Sport Stage 2 tune.

Great! Thanks so much. What suspension are you running? My car has the Dinan set up and I worry about rub on those sizes otherwise I'd be all over that set up you are running.

Any reference or comparison to a 285 tire in the rear with this set up? I'm just wondering if the trade off in tire performance would be made up for by the slight increase in sizing. Thanks so much for the reply.

well I've never seen anyone using 285 rear.
255 definitely reduces the front slide but I'm sure there are some people out here using 285s. I increased sizes 1cm each, matched the zcp sizing, but the GTS is using 285 at rear so I guess it is also good !

i run a 275/295 pss at the track and it works great on four rear gts/zcp wheels (10"wide all around)

First drive:

It's been raining a little today to no really dry roads to bite into but definitely a lot more grip in a straight line. Also, about 50hp/70ft more to put to the ground.

Fitment:

I'll post some pictures shortly. Perfect though. No rubs. Haven't had a full car yet though so we'll see.

Drivability:
I cannot tell the difference between the 245/35/19 and 265/35/19 PS2s that were on 220s previously (which are 8.5" and 9.5" for those playing at home), to the 265/30/19 and 295/30/19 on my new ZCPs (which are 9" and 10"). Precision is unaffected as is road feel.

All I can say to all those "you can only run 255/275" crowd:
1. try 30 profiles
2. try 265/295 PSS and prove yourself wrong

Hey saxonb I just got my Avant ZCP style wheels in with 18 25 offset. Im going to be putting them on my 11 M3 stock EDC suspension but with your 265 295 results then I should be able to run the 255 35 and 285 30 setup with no problems right?

From what I understand, there isn't a 285/19 pss, so 295 or 275 would fit. I would suggest a 295 though.

They just released the 285 30 pss so if its available would you recommend it? what is the difference we are talking from a 275 35 to a 285 30? 295 really was not a choice of mine to be honest.

Where did you see that it is available? Not showing on Michelin's site, Tire Rack or elsewhere. If available, it's the perfect size.

So any opinions on going 255/275 PSS route or some other form of 255/285? Will the PSS work better than a lesser 285 tire?

I even called Ben @ tire rack. He said that since the tire isn't even announced yet it would be a while before it was available.

I have 255/275 with Conti ExtremeContact DWS on ZCP wheels. I am sure I can use spacers with them ... at least 10mm all round. There is plenty of clearance.

I'm pretty close to needing new rubber and had been hoping I'd make it to the 285s so the second I read that I headed over to the Tire Rack site to put in my order...

I went with the PSS 255/275 combination based on Ben's recommendation
