Michelin PSS treadwear warranty over winter
If I was to buy Michelin Pilot Super Sports now does the warranty start when they are mounted on the rims or the tires are actually put into service (it's snow tire time now)? Does it "pause" next season over winter if the switch to snow tires is documented by a shop? I know there's no chance they'll last 30k even with rotating

Any automotive warranty would start on the date of purchase, as there's no way for a company to verify if/when you're actually using their products. No way to pause a warranty either, but you should be able to find the specifics of Michelin's warranty here: http://www.michelinman.com/US/en/tires/warranty.html

If you have a staggered tire set-up, Michelin warranty only covers 15k miles on the PSS. Effectively you don't have much of a warranty. PSS is an awesome tire but trend life is not its best attribute.
