I loved my '04 Sti...I miss it... it was one of the first ones to come over to the states in '04, didn't even come with a radio. For the price, nothing beats an STi in my mind.

I had a Subaru Legacy wagon for a while as winter beater , car drove just perfect with the all wheel drive .
They say Subaru is the Japanese Merc .
Actually the Sti is legend but the reliability is Oughhh .
And Dackel , thanks for sharing bud !

Subbies make for pretty good(winter beater) cars. It's really hard to beat that AWD system in the snow/rain/mud. I really liked driving the Legacy manuals in the snow. You only see them in Southern Germany or Austria though. I really would not call them a Jap Merc. I think that is a Honda or Lexus.

After I crashed my Evo 9 I test drove a STI.. Didn't compare to the Evo, in my opinion. It was noticeably slower and to soft.

For the money aspect, the Evo is the only car that compares. Back in '04 I paid 29k OTD for my STi. There was nothing that compared to it for that price. It was a street monster around my town back in the day. We're talking over a decade ago, many things have changed since then. Damn, now an STi is over 40k. Looking at it now especially, 29k was a bargain for what I got.

That's about what a Evo cost. In 2006 I paid 36k for my Evo 9 SE. The RS was a lot cheaper but it was more basic. I miss my Evo :/

Why does everyone treat their Subarus as "beaters"???

I love my Subaru as much as I love my BMW. Actually, I love it more. I've had it since new and it's a little bit faster than it was when I bought it.

Is that wagon still AWD?

J/K. Thanks for bumping this post from an STi owner; 2005 bought new for ~$30K. >100K miles on it now and it has never failed to get me where I needed to go, including during blizzards and hurricanes. Mine has been reliable too although I understand the later engines are a bit fragile around the ringlands.

^^Hahhaa... I just now noticed that! Only thing is... Andre does cost a lot more over here than in the USA. But still... they could have gotten a decent French champagne! Maybe a Henkell or Rotkappchen.

LOL! i loved the video, but i just couldnt help but laugh that at the North West event they gave them Andre, even one of the guys took a long hard look at the bottle...
i can only imagine that he realized he could buy that bottle for $3.00 whole dollars...
