What tyres to choose??

Hey guys

The run flats on my 20" 405's are nearing end of life

I'd like to swap for non run flats if possible

The tyre spec on RFT's currently are 225/35/20 (fronts) and 255/30/20 (rears)

Should I buy the same spec in Non Run flats? i am worried as height of the side wall is too low, could get away on an RFT but will it be a problem on the regular tyres?

Any recommendations on what size to go for please?

Thanks in advance

I'd do the same size if it's worked for you. You can compare actual measured sizes of your current tires to prospective tires on TireRack's website under the Specifications tab for each. That will tell you if the dimensions differ in any way. I would expect that nonrunflats would be more comfortable on rough roads. My recommendations are:

Summer tire:
Michelin Pilot Sport 4S

All Season Tire:
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+

I've got the same wheels and switched from the RF Pirelli's to MPS4S NRF in the same size. No issues at all but considerably smoother ride now. I did put a few extra PSI in them as they did look and feel a little softer that the RFs. I assume because of the thinner tyre walls.

MPS4S were also half the price of the Pirelli's

Cheers guys, thanks a lot, appreciate it

Also i have a 335d XDrive

For some reason with current offers on Kwik fit are coming out the cheapest and the quickest to get the tyres in said sizes

However i could only get Michelin's for the fronts and Good year Contact 6 for the rears

Is it OK to mix brands? Considering XDrive?

Contact 6 aren’t they Continentals? Goodyear would be asymmetric 3 or5’s

Personally would stick to a matched set all round, different tyres perform in different ways so have consistency between axles.

MPS4S on the way James

What pressure do you inflate your tyres to? Do you carry a can of gunk in the boot now

Happy days!

Stock pressure is 28 front and 30 rear and after some playing about I find 30 front and 32 rear seems to be working best for me. Tyre wear is also even across the tyre so that's reassured me.

Don't have any gunk or anything yet but I do keep meaning to get some. I had a slow puncture at Christmas which I got repaired. If it'd have been a RF they likely wouldn't have done it

I'd double-check that! My door says 38 all round.

EDIT: That's 19s, nevermind.
