Minus the side graphic & oddly placed stuck on looking hood scoop, it's not that bad. Prefer the ground effects to be carbon fiber or at least painted vs cheap plastic look

So I just watched the Throttle House review where they put the new stang WITH PERFORMANCE PACK up against the 1LE.

Predictably the 1LE has the better chassis by a mile but most concerning was apparently there is no longer a PP2 package and the previous PP2 stuff is now with the Dark Horse trim which is SERIOUS dollars. It's so bad that the previous gen PP2 spanked the new gen PP over a lap despite the new car having a mild HP bump.

What the hell Ford?

Weight and not-serious chassis tuning. When Ford went IRS, it ended up heavier...even heavier than the equivalent Camaros. So it would need some pretty buttoned-down suspension and rubber. From the get-go, the alpha chassis was intended to be a serious competitor, to fit and be sold with tires wide enough to handle the power and forces. Ford will sometimes do some decent "serious" cars, like the GT350R, but they have a hard time trickling that down to cheaper specs and making the rest of the line similar.

Handsome-looking coupe; were I 2 decades younger and ~50 lbs lighter, it would be on the list.

And we had a G5 Mustang Boss out at AutoX last weekend. THAT one is a great car, despite having a solid axle (watts link). It's got a great HP to weight ratio and is an all around beast. It's a shame they didn't continue more in that idea with PP2.

The Mustang GTD is a wicked car. That is a serious street legal race car.

But the PP2 of the previous model spanked it, so forget comparisons vs other marques, the car cannot keep pace with it's own older brother. I remember Probst running the PP2 back to back with an F80 M3 Comp and it ran a better lap time at willow springs.

The PP2 of the previous model spanked the new model, yes. And it took a while for ford to even do the PP2 on the old model. Steering was always an issue, but in general ford chooses not to button down their chassis for a long time. I don't know why, but right off the bat with the Gen 6 they were selling V8s with 255 rear tires. That's not enough rubber for that engine. Eventually chevrolet did the LT1 to match this, but years down the road, the "serious" performance models were released a long time before that.

Ask for the window sticker to be sure. When browsing autotrader I look for these wheels as dealers have NFI what they are selling ....

I once rented a GT with the 10 speed auto for 5 days. I wouldn’t recommend it. Who needs 10 speeds with a lovely V8? It’s a weird experience.
