not any hardcore wiring as the only wires that need adjustment are on the bmw perf seats.

I'm not really sure about the innards since we have no plans on removing the cushions from the seats, this is probably left best to someone with experience in auto upholstery - I would assume the heating pad is just beneath the cushion.

We have the ability to remove heated seats from the vehicle order (VO), this will require a read and have the file sent to Germany for verification. This is a one-time requirement - allowing future retrofits possible on the spot.

That being said, we will need the vehicle here with the seats installed for a read, then return within the next 1-2 days for coding.
According to hl0m4n, the performance seats already come heated from the factory so there's no need to remove the heat pads from my OEM to transfer it over or anything.

But that leads to my next question, can my OEM heated seats be installed in a non-heated seat optioned car?

I think so, but it will require the vehicle here to perform a session read in order to move forward.

Hi guys

I don't have heated seats OEM but I fitted the performance seats which come with heating pads stadard. Mine were fitted with the wiring harness and were coded by BMW to remove the head restraint codes etc. No issue apart from corrupting my foot well module. Once it was replaced, all perfect with ful airbag functionality including the seat airbags

if you would like, I can get my BMW tech to give a full written step by step on how it was sorted out.

From BMW tech

Hi guys

Spoke to my BMW guy

1. Buy the retro fit wiring harness as per the attachment
2. Plug the car into the BMW coding machine to programme the car
3. Select retro fit seat option

The BMW computer will then know you have removed the standard electric seats from the car and it will recode the car to deactivate the error codes and restore functionality of the airbags and seat airbag the perfrmance seat comes with.

My guy says all BMW computer pogramming machines are set up the same, clearly US dealers won't sell you the wiring harness part and perform the reprogramming once installed.

Without the wiring part fitted you WILL not be able to reprogramme as per above

part number 61122155580 wiring kit
part 07147146686 x 8 fillister
part 52102152617 set of screws
hope this helps

I'm curious to see what Tom @ EAS has to say about this. If there's new info here, it may be worth trying it on Socale92's car.

Gents this works, BMW has done it.

In the US the Performance seats are not legal, this why you cannot
A. Buy the parts listed above
B. Plug in and select retro fit seat

Without parts installed ie wiring harness, you cannot select the retro fit seat option for the computer to re programme the car.

The wiring harness tells the computer that you no longer have electric seats with occ sensor and head restraints.

I had a occ sensor in my car, so when a passenger got in, and did not put on his/her seat belt, it would set off the gong.

The performance seats do not have occ sensors and therefore in teh attachment, it specifically says that the passenger will not be detected and you must be responsible and tell them to put on their seat belts.

The seat belt handover function is cancelled however.

You all have the exact part numbers, now go and order them and plug into a BMW machine!!! Its very simple

so tempting, wish someone in the US have some success in getting the harness and have it coded successfully

oh and confirmed with my bmw mechanic today after an oil change that all euro parts cannot be ordered, so it looks like that might contribute to some difficulty and also taking a huge risk if the bmw computer will or will NOT detect the electric seats are gone with that harness installed due to difference of regional market.

Hey, just in case anyone is looking to source a set of these seats, I happen to have a set up for grabs.

They are posted up on Flea-bay at the moment (yes, this is my auction)

http://item.ebay.com/260623696284

Here's some good pics of them in the flesh -- figure some people might be interested in seeing them....

With the wiring harness and all this new information, I figured someone might be ready to take the plunge! Let me know if you have any questions...

Sorry to bump an old thread...but it seems to me like the only problem is that the MS emulator disables side airbags...

what if it just...well...didn't? It emulates that a passenger and driver are always sitting, so worst comes to worst a passenger airbag goes off for no reason, but if there is indeed someone there, then it will go off.

am i wrong here?

and unrelated to this...would someone be able to install only the driver's side without any errors?

Tom, where did you end up with Bob's latest information from earlier in the year?

Sorry for digging this up, but is it possible to use this harness with Recaro PPs? Assuming that I can get the harness and get the car programmed. Is there anyway to not disable the passenger airbag with after market seats?
