Love my ACM mod! I don't dd the car, but if I did, I don't think I would mind. Considering a M performance just because there is something unique about the sound. Expensive for a catback though.

Please correct me if I am wrong. ACM exhaust mod involves replacing all four perforated tubes to non perforated tubes. And OEM exhaust mod involves replacing only two, one on each side.

Perforated mod just replaces the perforated pipes with solid pipes. ACM mod bypasses the perforated pipes with a straight threw pipe on both sides of the muffler. ACM mod http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=609950 I have the ACM mod with 3 inch tips sounds great. Best sounding exhaust IMO. |

Got it! I don't think the ACM mod is for me. Maybe I'll try the Perforated exhaust mod only on one side. Car will be driven 50% by the lady. Can't render the muffler completely useless!

Appreciate the heads up. How is their scheduling in terms of the wait? I guess I'll just give them a call and get details on pricing, etc... Thanks again.
Im debating just getting the perforated mod or going with a gintani sport. Anyone have experiences with both? Wiling to chime in on the gintani? Quote:

Depends on how much you want to spend. Not sure how much the Gintani sells for but I doubt its as inexpensive as the OEM mod which is less than $500 at Zury's

Money is not the main driving factor in my decision, although it is a factor. Im in a limbo as to which exhaust to get and the gintani is just one of my preferences. Main issue is that ive heard ZERO aftermarket exhausts in person. I really want to buy a used exhaust system and gintani seems like they are more plentiful. Im also in the market for mpe, akra, or meisterschaft, also dinan too now thanks to feedback from a local member. I cant justify paying full price new for any of these m3 systems. Ive heard such great comments about the oem exhaust mod that i'll probably end up going this route first since it is the cheapest and logically would make sense.
But i've heard comments stretching from "oem perforated mod is not very noticably different than oem" to "this is the best sounding exhaust". I know its subjective. But trying to get a sense if this oem mod sound can actually compete with the other ones "if price were not a factor", or is it just good considering that its the cheapest route. |

FYI, my perforated mod will be going up for sale soon. It's technically an E90 section that I swapped my E92 tips on to. I have the E90 tips as well. It's much louder than stock and if it paired well with an x-pipe it TP's I'd be keeping it.

did the perforated method, sounds awesome although a bit too much so planing to uncover the perforated pipe a bit, has anyone done it to reduce the sound a bit? feels like if you cover whole perf. pipe the there is no backpressure and i think it needs a bit of that.
