I used to have JB+, now using BM3 stage 1 on 320i. According to PTF, with BM3 stage 1 power increase on 320i is around 70hp. I asked them right before purchase. Car feels like 328i.

A tune like that with the add ons would probably bring me to 270-280 total hp which is right where I'd feel safe and happy.

I know there is BM3, but that would net me the same hp gains as where I stand with the Jb4 right? I know BM3 would be safer, but I'd rather upgrade other points first then make a current switch from Jb4 to BM3.
Make the jump to stacking the JB4 to BM3.... Safe fluid HP...

How much does a custom tune usually run???

I always laugh because BPC turned me away out of fear he'd brick my engine.

That's okay though, I'm sure enough asked that he gave in haha. I got with PTF and HCP to work out the custom E tune.

Also, for AA, that's their piggyback. DME Flash is:

https://store.activeautowerke.com/co...oftware-tuning

https://store.activeautowerke.com/products/simon-3

And yes, you are seeing the right price when you buy the Simon 3 + Flash tune...

So they offer both, got it. Somehow missed the flash when I viewed their site.

$900 is pretty steep, I have to say.

600 for BM3, and 1 OTS Map... each OTS map after that is 50 bucks.

Do custom tuners normally make BM3 maps? Does anyone know the process or price for that?

I see most flash tunes need you to send your ECU in and cost 900+. But if the ECU doesn't have to be sent in since BM3 uses the OBD, I'd imagine it would be cheaper. I just am not sure of the processes involved for a custom time though BM3.

Good discussion too guys, answering a lot of the stuff I can't fond anywhere else. I also emailed PTF with a question about 320i gains, so I'll post that when I can.

You're asking the wrong guy lol. I've never had any experience with a custom dyno tune, so I couldn't tell you.

That is their piggyback unit. The Active Autowerke flash tune can be found here: https://www.x-ph.com/active-autowerk...o-ecu-removal/

Yup, $599 for your "license". However, I've now downloaded 4 different OTS maps and haven't payed extra for any of them. In my experience it's a one-time $599 payment and as many maps as you want.

Do each of the OTS tunes give you parameters for which supporting mods you should have and other detailed info about their differences or is it literally 1,2,3,4 with 1 being mild and 4 being spicy?

Well at least for the N20, there is stage 1 and stage 2, that's it. There is a 91 and 93 octane variant of each stage, as well as AGG stage 2 maps that run more gunshot-like burbles. With each map, it will say what the recommended hardware is. Here is what the OTS map screen looks like for my car (N20):

I wonder if those are the EXACT same maps an N26 user would get or if they would be different...

At any point do you provide your VIN or do you just get to choose from a list?

As soon as you buy your BM3 license, which just allows you access to the program, you will enter your VIN. By entering your VIN, the OTS map screen will only show you maps compatible with your car, so it's literally impossible to load a map not compatible with your car, unless you enter the wrong VIN. You'll see in the yellow box under the name of the map, "N20-EWG-L-9". That is your engine, waste gate type, compression (L[ow] for 328i H[igh] for 320i) and DME model of your exact car. This assures that you're getting a map designed very specifically for your car, down to the production date of the DME.

Not sure if they are the exact same maps as N26, but if not they are certainly pretty darn similar.
