If the car was being exhibited at shows and you were going to fully detail it, including the engine bay, then maybe.

Apart from that, meh.
What if it were..... oh I don't know......a wood grain effect?

Garage List
I've always thought that the big black, dull engine covers nowadays look pretty uninspiring. The black gloss example doesn't look very good, but the blue and white examples look very nice indeed and pep up the engine compartment. It might also be a mod that means you clean your engine bay from time to time

Guess so, it's only a piece of decorative plastic trim thats clipped on as a dress up. Maybe adds some protection to wires senders etc, but not much is going to get in there when the lid's shut.

Maybe just the 6 glossy parts that cover the inlet manifold... In body colour, or matte silver...
But the rest, including the ///M colours for the stripes is too much for me.

Regarding driving it around without a cover.. My 130i has been missing an engine cover for 3 months while I wait some decent weather to fix a few engine issues. It's fine and hasn't exploded.

I've looked in the emojis but I can't find the one that looks like this but just has a middle finger.

Apart from invalidating the engine warranty, it'll be fine.

C'mon, seriously ?

I don't mind these tbh, some can look quite smart. I agree with the previous posters about keeping the rest of the engine bay clean though to keep the overall look.

Plus it's better than wrapping crash bars thats for sure!

For those who don't hate the idea Which one to pick? Feel the black stripes look like piano keys so leaning towards white (photoshopped from an M4 bay but I have the same blue intake)

That's not an M4 engine bay for sure.
I know that's not the point, was just saying...
You should do whatever you want. It's all personal. I'm with you, I like them, done the right way. I've got a carbon fibre one.
I'm of the opinion that when I do open the bonnet, for whatever reason, I like it to look nice. It's part of the car to me & should therefore be clean, at the very least.
But I fully get that it's ETTO.

Ah, the carbon strut brace got me confused

Was actually thinking of having a go at redoing it when the weathers a bit warmer. Ditch the carbon wrap for gloss black paint and adding some silver to the manifoldy looking bits

looks dope, Now I want to do mine lol

I like the accent lines being colored. Part of me would like to see them in CF.

I've contemplated it for a while but just can't justify the cost for something that's covered up 99% of the time - similar story when I realised the OEM M carbon fibre engine cover was £800!

Maybe I'm just a tightarse

Do think they look great when done though…

That's exactly why I decided not to do it in the end. There are more worthwhile mods to save up for

Yeah, I might do it at some point

I'd also be worried that it would get scratched when worked on at dealers!

AliExpress is your friend. You'll get a carbon one for about £100
