I'm not upset. If I wanted the fastest car out I would have a GT-R. If I wanted an F8x I could go buy one at the dealer right now at MSRP. But I'll wait a year while you all get ripped off @ MSRP and buy a 16. Enjoy. |

Don't group me in because I got $2K off MSRP and I am military with USAA so ended up with $3K off total. Many people buying these can also afford GTR's, but the GTR is not much more than just raw performance anyway (hence why I didn't buy it). I'm just proving a point- sorry if you can't handle that. Congrats on your '16. I waited 4 years before I bought an E92 in '12 so I can see where you're coming from.

My point is, you talk yourself in circles. Your initial reaction was bashing the F8x, then as soon as someone called you out, you stepped up by saying that you'll buy one too. Well, congrats. Then when someone calls you out on a bullshit comment with close to zero evidence, you got defensive. Then given other examples you changed the subject to straight-line speed and different cars. I also can't wait to see you get a better deal than I did on the F82 (with US delivery), even for a '16. If you manage that, I will be happy for you and I'll somehow validate that my time spent with mine was still worth the extra couple bucks because time is money. In the meantime, I'll get that "S" on my hood and I'll add one on the back of the car too (so you would be able to see something other than just my taillights). Cheers

My first post says an m4 will be a blip in the z06 rear view. How is that anything but true? I didn't know a true obvious statement was "bashing" the M4. Someone mentioned it would tear up my e92 and my reply was ill have an f82 by the time the z06 is out. Nice story above but pretty bad analysis. Sorry i stated an M4 isnt as fast as a 650hp Z06. That is the question the OP asked. |

food for thought though...while the F8x still gets smacked around on the track by a C6 Z06 and mentioning it and a C7 Z06 is a joke, the straight line battle would in fact be interesting. Do I care much about that? No, for the same argument you made about the GT-R. But if talking purely *potential* of the F8x cars, it's pretty dope for the money. Let's assume 12% drivetrain loss for each car (which is pretty generous). Stock M3/4 would make ~422whp/406wtq Stock Z06 would make ~572whp/572wtq Z06 would decimate. True, but let's try one more case: Tuned M3/4 on E50 makes ~540whp/574wtq Stock Z06 would make ~572whp/572wtq For other references Tuned FBO E85 GTR ~605whp/595wtq Stock GTR ~470whp/~470wtq We can put ourselves in good company as far as straight line goes.

and what will the C7Z do with a pulley? IMO, no point comparing a mod'd car to a stocker. in the C6Z world, the LS7 takes to heads and cam like an n54 takes to boost.
... i expect it'll be like the C5Z vs e46M and the C6Z vs. e92M. Z is going to be the significantly faster car by far and in any measure (straight, turn, doesn't matter). however the M will be the nicer car and still a very capable sports car. two very different cars but seems they often get cross shopped by enthusiasts (myself included). unlike most, the aesthetics of both the exterior and interior of the C7 have not impressed me. i find it to be a gaudy car inside and out. hoping the C7Z exterior talks to me; if it does, it'll be like my past corvettes where i buy the car in spite of its interior. driving a stock f82M a couple weeks ago made me rethink my C6Z some. in a straight line although the C6Z has an advantage, if i'm not on my game in my Z, an f82M will be up in my business. however, add in corners and a fast track and i still think the C6Z (with modern MPSSs) will still have a significant advantage. really like both cars, for different reasons. regarding 2.x 0-60, i'll believe it when i see it. 5050 weight distribution, aggressive camber, stiff suspension, and a low CM do not a drag racing car make. though with MPSSs, i'm finally able to get power down in first in a stock C6Z on a decent surface. |

According to the article that was released, it's heavier than the previous Z06 and the ZR1 as well. They said 3600-3700lbs.

i'm seeing 3300-3400 on CF. the C7 gained some weight over the C6. hope the Z doesn't weigh more than the base, but it doesn't have the Al frame vs steel frame advantage that the C6Z had over the garden variety C6. my Z is 3150. i'm not happy to see it gain weight though i expect it'll destroy my C6Z in every performance category.

That is quite the bargain. Nissan now has some stiff competition for super car performance < 100k.

I love the performance of the C6 cars and the styling on the outside. Unfortunately the interior does not match that . Thank god they changed that with the C7.

Thanks. I just looked up, and the result is very dissapointing.
C7 z06 coupe-3,524 1/Z trim C7 z06 convertible-3,582 1/Z trim Fully loaded z will go over 3,600 pounds, that is my guess. Even though it is going to be a monster, i am beginning to think that its not going to be that much faster than c6 z06 that is about 500 pounds lighter.. New z will be very expensive car to track considering the size of those tires:285/19 front, 335/20 rear(unless wheel conversion to 18in will be possible). So, we just have to wait and see for on track tests next year, but that weight is very dissapointing for sure. |
