Well in the 12 hours or so since it was taken, they don't appear to be able to find their arse from their elbow!!

Hope it gets sorted & soon, OP.

Only thing i have heard so far is the DC has rung the BMW Liaison Officer and it went to VM and no return call so far. Awesome. That's, as you say, over 12 hours since the car was reported nicked.

Does this mean we can tell our insurance companies that we have a tracker fitted?

Oh and I hope you get a positive outcome soon. I had a car stolen and recovered, to be fair it was nice to get it back. Even better watching the video of the 4 D1ckheads being Tasered and dogged on their arrest.

Yes, it's a bit of luck TBH, though the cops were providing me with details on possible locations.

This is the app I used

https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://play.google.com/store/apps/details%3Fid%3Dcom.lexa.fakegps%26hl%3Den_GB%26ref errer%3Dutm_source%253Dgoogle%2526utm_medium%253Do rganic%2526utm_term%253Dfakegps%26pcampaignid%3DAP PU_1_2UGyVqaxHoSv-AHP85iYAg&ved=0ahUKEwjmgaTql9zKAhWEFz4KHc85BiMQ8oQ BCBwwAA&usg=AFQjCNGlK1y5P5p4GAWG9DierPUPpLHUGg&sig 2=MTp4JHII_8qEqcX0GWh_ug

OP, your car won't be far away. Also, it's worth scanning because the app also tells you if the ignition is on so you can inform the cops if the cars on the move.

Thanks all for your help and advice. No progress really today.

I hope they get the f**kers who stole it last night. Just makes me angry they come in a steal something they cannot be bothered earning the right to buy. Lowest of the low.

Yes I have GAP thanks to the advice on this forum! Thumbs up to you guys.

Just tried the BMW app again and it now says 'the position of the vehicle cannot be determined when the ignition is switched on'. So it's on the move. That's different from this morning which said it was more than 1.5k away. So frustrating that this app knows that it is powered up and going somewhere and but won't tell me.

EDIT: I have just used the app to lock the vehicle or so the app says anyway. With any luck the idiots have got out of the car without the key!

So it was local, but due to the delays and them not getting their act together, the car is being driven to the port now.

Really sorry to hear about this - I can't add anything more useful than use every contact you have to get Plod talking to BMW to locate this damn vehicle.

Perhaps ask them, what if it was their car which had been nicked?

What we should do in these situations is share your BMW remote app login details with everyone here, each of us log in one by one from the app (adding the car first of course - we may need a spreadsheet for the timings) and then each in turn do a location search. We must have a decent UK coverage and it's worth a shot.

Of course, it's most likely tucked down a side street behind a row of lock-ups just a few miles from you now.

EDIT: Thinking like a criminal now, and of your location.....

They are most likely from Peterborough (sorry guys, no offence).
They most likely plan to get rid of the car either up or down the A1.
There is potential they'd head for Birmingham.

I would drive towards the A1 and do another search.
Drive south a way and try again.
Get to perhaps the A1/A47 junction and try a couple of miles in each direction.

Not really mate as you can tell from this thread the car cannot be tracked within the reasonable timeframe to assist recovery.
With a proper tracker you have more of a chance as you have direct contact with the tracker firm who will be open 24/365.

Crazy that BMW can do this it's just you have to go via the police and they can only talk to one person who is obviously otherwise engaged! Just spoken to the police and they have left another message with BMW Liaison but still no reply.

I will be making a compliant to BMW to make this service more open and useable. Fair enough it has to come from the Police but there should be more than one person 'on call' as such! Time is of the essence here. Soooo frustrating knowing the BMW software knows where my car is but won't tell me..

It's giving me some fun constantly locking the car remotely though!

It's sooo frustrating isn't it. The newer models don't have this same restriction on proximity.

I was tempted to start sending nav directions to the police station when I knew they were driving lol
