Yeah, same as at LCI models, located at the rear of the fairing into a small grey cage.

Right, search for my DIY how to remove and install the new SMD into the door fairings if you want.

For all those who want their buttons led colour different from the horrible BMW orange, this guy changed all mine in one day, took him 13 hours but he did an amazing job and at my home.
All he needs is a table and chair to work with. £300 for the complete job including travel expenses, he even changed all the leds in the air con surround from blue/orange to blue/white, not bad at all! http://www.facebook.com/skautoled Email: s.k.led@hotmail.com Images of my F32 can be seen on his facebook site. Great guy and excellent workmanship! |

You should try soldering 402s... 603s and 805 are enormous by comparison, lol.

Sorry to bring up this thread.
Does anyone know the specs for the led's in the ambient lightning? (My car is an early 2014). I'm in the process changing the resistors to get some more light and I would be greatfull to know how low I can go with the resistors without burning the led's out. |

One of the things that I liked in my Saab 93 was the night panel... Now seems we go opposite direction, with more and more light and glare inside.

Agreed.
It’s called ambient illumination and not accent lighting for a reason, but to each their own.

Benzinfabrik was supposed to get replacement LED modules for the LCI radio trim but so far no dice. I noticed the module was a little smaller than the door ambient lighting module.
I ordered 2 more door ambient lighting modules (blue/white) and going to try and sand down the sides of the PCB a bit to see if a retrofit so to speak may work. Will be nice to have the radio trim have blue LED's too! Hopefully my order doesn't get lost this time and they come in soon lol. Will let you know how things go! |

Im also waiting impatiently for the small SMDs for the panel to release and to install them. But so far no news feed from them.

I was also waiting on the small dash modules from benzinfabrik, but then I realised it will cost around $100 to replace all led modules(doors, footwell and dash). All this for basically one usable color since I don't really like the white on ambient lights..
So instead, I went all out and built a small module using a digispark and replaced the door and dash modules with custom ones using ws2812 leds from a strip. The module is controlled by switching between classic/sport in the idrive, no hidden switches in the doors, no replacement of optical conductors with whole rgb strips I'll create a separate thread here on bimmerpost with more details and photos, maybe a video using the thing, hopefully tomorrow. In a few days I hope to finish a diy as well, for anyone with the time and patience for this sort of stuff |

For each led module I used a piece of strip containing only one led, stuck that to a small piece of circuit board(it's self adhesive) basically creating similar modules to the original ones. Unfortunately I didn't think of taking a picture with the finished module side by side with the original, but here is how a piece of strip looks like next to a dash led module(left). |
