I think it doesn't help you learn the limits of the tire by obfuscating the upper margin and masking ability, which can make you more error prone.

That plus sometimes it gives less warning/indication when breaks traction. You go from gripping hard to no grip real quick.

Yes I do. I'll put up the numbers. Won't be apples to apples with my last ACS outing, I had a busted water temp sensor there, but oil numbers should be good. Trying to get a Buttonwillow date too.
So how did they perform?

This makes sense.

I started with a stock car and quickly learned the limits of the old tires. I suppose my next upgrade could have been a square set of street tires but I was always begging for more grip than the car/tires could provide. So I bought a square set of NT01s. Haven't had tire/grip issues since. YMMV

Don't know yet - plan was to test them this upcoming weekend (28-29 May). Might not be able to test the DCT cooler this weekend, have some minor issues with it that I have to resolve and the schedule is pretty tight.

Yup. I'm looking at RS3, 200TW NT-05, and 595-RSR (if they ever come back in stock).

This. Lost the rear many times, and spun out once. I also drove straight off the track while giving a point by, but that's something else lol.

My first five track days, I used RE760s, which are not really grippy. Also used those and old BFG R1s for autocross to practice car control. Using the R1s helped me learn the (lack of) feedback that R-comps have and responding accordingly. On track this weekend, I felt fairly confident on how to respond, but higher speeds made it more scary. Recovering at 90 MPH was quite an experience (and resulted in a compliment from the corner station worker), but holy shit it was fucking terrifying, especially since I had an advanced driver sitting with me to give me feedback on my driving.

Went from 235F and 265R RE760s to 275 squared NT-01s, and I had no understeer this event. That and the grip were impressive.

hard to say, i'm not 100% sure. i've had three sets of tires on them so far, so not sure if any marks i would find are from old weights getting taken off from rebalancing.

PR at TWS this weekend. 2:04.55. Not bad for my third event using the wrong tires and lacking smoothness. My sole focus in three weeks will be to work on smoothness. I bet I will improve my times by doing that.

Is that an e90 with gts wing? Do you have any pics? Was thinking of doing that to my car.

They let you run in a t-shirt and shorts? All the event organizers out here ask for long pants and shirts for fire protection.

i run in shorts and a long sleeve shirt. the only reason i wear a long sleeve is i don't want my left [short] sleeve jammed up my armpit from the wind.

Who do you do your events with that let you run shorts?

Speed Ventures?
Xtreme Speed?

I'll have to keep this in mind next time I'm at BWR.

2013 E92 M3  [10.00]
Ran Laguna for the first time today since I've made modifications to my E92. I've ran this track 6 times, all on a stock ZCP E92. First up, the Bimmerworld E9X race cat back sounds awesome. Paired with the Dinan Intake, the sound shack recorded me at 88.7 dB (90dB day.) Second, the ground control camber plates paired with Swift Springs and E36 bump stops were awesome. Thats how the E92 ZCP package should of came from BMW. Third, ran Hankook RS3's for the first time (i've been running PSS) and these tires can grip. All together I shaved roughly 5 seconds off of my previous time at Laguna.

Finally, the track day was with FDR motorsports and they run a mix group of high intermediate/ advance (I usually run intermediate.) I ran that today for the first time. The idea is if your car has a "meatball" on your car, (like mine did for the first 3/5 sessions) the drive coming up behind you must wait for a point by from me in order to pass. If i was to come up to car that did not have the meatball, I could open pass. Learned some good things today while running in the mix group that will help me become a better driver down the road.

See you all at Bimmerfest!!

Wow you beasted it on RS3s no less - from facebook NorCal BMW M he said he did a 1:43.47. That's .3 faster than me on NT01 - LOL. 5 seconds faster than your time on PSS? Crazy!
