I think the headlights will look BETTER than the euros. The front looks nicer than the current version IMHO. The side mirrors definitely need to go and replaced by ours

I'm not diggin the rear lights at all. The effective cut-off makes it look too much like an e92 (no offense guys), but the lack of visual width that the e92 has makes it look strange. Blacklines for me, that's for sure
I seem to be one of the few who doesn't care that that the headlights have the amber in them. To me, I'd rather have the amber in the headlight than the ugly reflector on the bumper (regardless if a painted one can be installed), ruining the smooth line on the wheel arch from the side profile view.

A very interesting facelift. They managed to get new tail lights by not having to change the side panels - new boot only, so saving money.
I like the front, looks more smooth, but I do like the male aggression of the current E90 front, so I will have to see the new one in person to decide which one I ultimately like best. V on bonnet is wrong to me, too many lines and the current bonnet looks very elegant. Hate the reflector. In Oz we get Euro lights so this is a definite step backward. Like the new rear lights. They look like they will make the rear look more sleek and integrated. Hope LEDs are in there. So the largely minimal tweaks to the body work indicate to me that the mechanical package will be much deeper - here's hoping because the C Class and new A4 are definitely competitive and BMW needs to reassert themselves here. For instance active suspension is standard on many C Class models here, and review of the actively suspended M3 indicate that the dreaded problems with run flats are solved, so let's hope BMW put this whole run-flat issue to bed for good with this update. I am due to change cars March 09, so I am really looking forward to this car, and hopefully there will be something between a 325 and 335 in the line-up, or a 330d (we don't get that model here at the moment) or something.

Based on these pictures, it's a bit of two steps forward, one step back (or maybe one step forward, two steps back). I'm going to give the BMW design team the benefit of the doubt however, as the E46, E60, and E65 LCIs were all improvements aesthetically.
BMW wouldn't put a hardline going into a light without continuing that line in the light itself (to the detriment of the E60 and E65 headlights), so I wonder what the upper portion of the outer half of the new taillight will look like. Also, I hope the circular cutouts in the black tape doesn't correspond with the LEDs exactly, as the spacing is odd and a line of LEDs anchoring a curved light isn't pretty (a la the R8 headlights). I'm loving the move of the amber off of the headlight and onto a fender reflector like the E92. And to think, the old design never bugged me until I read all of the complaints on this forum. Any thoughts on whether the tape on the hood is actually hiding hardlines or merely misdirection? And no comments on the color? It may just be the color profile of the camera used, but it looks too red to be Titanium Silver, too light to be Silver Grey (which I am still hoping will show up with the LCI), not yellow enough to be Atlantic Blue ... almost Silverstone but not quite. Good stuff. |

The headlight also has the same type of "diffuser" over the high beam that the 1'ers do, whereas the current 3 has a visible bowl that the high beam bulb sits in and is visible in from the outside.

By definition, a notch is like an indentation. The new tail lights appear notched because the top edge of the lights is no longer a continuous "straight" line.

For me, the weakest part of the E90 was the god awful tailights way too much red and the shape is so awkward, replacing with blacklines helped. This new spyshot confirms tailights are getting better, I'd rather it look more like E92 (money bank for BMW) than stay like current E90. I have always said, when BMW went from E46 rear to E90 rear they messed up. This new spyshot rear is a huge improvement but there's more room for perfection.
The 2nd weakest part is the current interior, now this may change with the facelift as mapezzul states in post #40, so stay tuned. I am looking forward to getting back to BMW when I stop hearing about fuel pump issues and the interior gets a nicer design for the driver. I fell in love with the E46 and bought it when first released in 1999 kept it for 9 yrs so I truly loved it inside and out, I want BMW to get me back to that feeling of love until then it lost me to the IS350. |

phew. now that i kinda get the shape, I will go with blacklines. the cut off isn't as good as i thought it would be, all in all a very minor facelift but would require a new trunk to fit these to older sedans. all in all, Blacklines or this new update are same to me, and since im not swiching cars just to get new taillights, Im not botehred too much.
anyways, decent facelift but i dont like coupe front end.

comon guys, search a little harder, the hood was already shown more then once without any camo, yes there is a bump in center running from grilles to windscreen.

I bet you the top part of the outer area is white. It will probably be like the coupe but upside down.
