Looks like a decent ride, though disappointing it is now the weight of the Camaro and slower (straight line) than the last gen. But with IRS, I'm sure the aftermarket solutions will be great for the handling.

This quote from Road & Track caught my attention:

Quote:
This is the best mustang ever, the best ponycar ever, a mutant with DNA from the Fox 5.0 and the BMW e46 in seemingly equal measure.

All the test GT's seem to be 6 speed manuals. No Auto's.

Blipit, this quote stood out to me:

I'd take it over the BMW M235i without a second thought. The Mustang, you see, is livelier and more engaging, gleefully invalidating many import-car arguments. That's a handy thing, since it's now being sold where the import cars actually come from. All I thought when I was behind the wheel was that if the regular GT is this good, the Shelby GT350 will have rivals smashing office furniture next year.

Reviews are very positive. MotorTrend review did say it didn't quite live up to the on track expectations they had. My opinion Ford just left room for improvements for cars like the GT350. The GT is going to be a great platform for enthusiasts to build off of and create a fast, very reliable weekend track car. Adding IRS was big.

I dont know...

I'm not exactly convinced. It seems to be putting up Camaro 1LE performance metrics which is a bit disappointing. Waiting for the comparisons. Truth is in the numbers, not in individual opinions.

Which is a big problem considering 75% sold will be automatic. Ford has always been that way though. They always push the manuals as the performance versions, even though the autos sell better and since 2005, perform better. They're living in the past.

These appear to be very good reviews of a brand new design, especially the suspension. Let's not forget, the Gov't regulations are tougher yet Ford designed this car to compete head on with Germans and maintained affordability. I can't wait to see Mustang all over Europe. The price will put a lot of pressure on other cars. GT350 will be a monster if GT is this good. Again, helluva value right there.

Part numbers leaking out for GT350, include stock wheels sizes. 19x10.5 front and 19x11 rear. A carbon fiber wheel included in the performance pack, 19x11 front and 19x11.5 rear.

This car is going to be CRAZY good! (Especially with the rumors of a flat plane crank 5.2L V8 with 600+hp)

Ford has been working with Carbon Revolution lately, so it looks like a carbon fiber wheel on a mass produced car is about to happen.

If money wasn't an object, it'd be number one on my list. Just based off of sound alone, it's in a class of its own imo.

As far as straight line performance is concerned it's been vary inconsistent with the very small number of instrumented tests we've been given so far.

Here's a 6AT without the performance pack (stickier, larger series rubber) doing 12.86s @ 107mph in its first pass at NMRA Bowling Green. Much lower than Motor Trend's 13.0 run, but trapping a solid 6mph slower at the same time. Does that not make sense to anyone else?

Wait for some comparison tests so we can get a good idea of how it stacks up with the 1LE and extrapolate its abilities against the outgoing S197 from there.

This thing means business!
I like that you can get Recaros, factory supercharger, etc. It is cool of Ford to offer those things on a performance car.

What I am most excited about is that GT350.
Supposed 5.2L cross plane V8 revving to 8000 RPM!!!

Can't wait for that, and the GM Camaro response.

Who would ever think a V8 Mustang GT would be slower than a straight 6 M235. 4.6 and 13.0 for the 435 hp V8 monster and 4.4 and 12.9 for the straight 6 M235 according to Motor Trend, 4.3 for the M235 at Car and Driver. What's the gas milage like 14-15 on the Mustang, good luck selling that in Europe with gas at $9 a gallon. Mustang is a slow pig, hell MT or Car and Driver did a 4.9 in the 228 with an auto.

The thing with the GT, you can slap on a Ford Racing blower and smoke a M235i for still less than cost of M235i.
