e30 M3 restore/rebuild challenge?

I'm just looking at way far down the road but I really love the e30 M3s.
And later on down the road when I'm done with school and have some extra budget for projects, I want to take on a challenge of rebuliding or restoring a e30 M3. They are really good looking and compact (I love compact cars) cars. I've seen some thread on e30 M3 rebuilds but what does it really take to make this happen?

Are the e30 M3's hard to find?
Are the parts for it hard to find?
Are the parts for it expensive?
Any engine possibilities?
Reliability issues?
Overall price for this?
Is it worth it? (I guess this question can be really personal...)

If anyone can give me a rough idea of this it would be great!!!
Thanks!!!

Yes they are hard to find. One in crappy condition will still probably cost you $10k+ if you can find it. Otherwise expect $15-20k.
Parts aren't hard to find but they're expensive. I replaced all of my suspension bits with M3 parts and they're about 3-4x the cost of regular E30 parts. They're built to be race parts so expect race prices.
The engine in the E30 M3 is amazing and fun, it just needs to be fully rebuilt every 150k. Popular swaps are S50 (E36 M3) or LS1 & LS2 (Corvette).
Overall price of finding, buying, & restoring an E30 M3 - I'd guess around $25-40k, depending on how all-out you go.

Personally, would love to have one myself. Can't afford it for a toy, so I'm restoring a regular E30.

I'm toying with the idea of buying a 325is and restoring it sometime in the next year or so. I think you're a lot better off just picking up a regular e30 and going that route. I just got out of school and you won't have as much money to toy with as you dreamed of lol... unfortunate but true in most cases.
