Might get an M6

Dealer is supposed to get an '06 M6 soon and offer me an amazing deal on it. Might trade in the 335 for it.

Has anybody owned an M6 here? Any idea on the maintenance costs, problems...etc.? Still in warranty, but just wondering for long term....

kNot owned but I was considering one instead of my 335, I ended up getting an M3. The M6 is an incredible super cruiser but very poor mileage and a very small gas tank makes the car hard to live with.

Get an M3 you'll never look back

I decided against the M6. It had too many miles on it and I'm affraid of the high maintenance costs.

I will wait a few months and get the M3.

No warranty? M6 man if there is a warranty. Just be prepared to top off the oil once in a while.

It has only about 1 year left on the warranty. After that the maintenance cost will be a killer: Inspection I & II, brakes are $1500, expensive tires due to large size, etc....

FWIW- you cannot CPO an M6 if you are not the original owner. Not sure how long you plan on keeping the car, but just keep that in the back of your mind

Thanks. Good deal, but 5-6k down and only 10k miles per year does not sound good to me because I have to roll over some of the negative equity from my 335.
I guess it's still a good deal tho.

Cons - Its not just poor mileage...I owned the E60 M5, and swapped it for the E92 M3. Its just the ride which is really soft in spite of H & Rs, tend to roll about more and the looks is awful!

Pros - straight line speed, way awesome!

I have an E60 M5 and there is no way I would ever own such a high tech car without a warranty. While it's a fun car to drive, it does have a fair amount electronic problems. Get a new M3. Nothing beats a new car that you got to spec yourself. But I did get the opportunity to drive the M6 at BMW's performance school and it's a hell of a car.
