- X1 the best selling of all X's! Pretty good job!

- Kill those damn GT's!!

- Looks like a pretty good start for the 4-Coupe compared to last many years of 3-Coupe numbers
X1 is more ppl entering the luxury compact suv market. Damn we can buy an bmw instead of a crv now?

The 4 must be compared to initial e92 launch, not the tail end. Plus, its not a full year of sales right?

So 2007 (did e92 come out in 06 or 07?) 3er coupe units divided by half/third/quarter vs 4 series units. I'm also wondering what that looks like.

Coming from an Evoque (slightly smaller trunk than the X3 but not by much), I can attest to the above. If one wants to go crazy with utility with the X6M/X6, don't forget that it can tow too!

I assumed they were combined with their standard model counterpart as it appears to be broken out by body style. An M3 sedan would be a 3er saloon, etc.

No worries.

M numbers are indeed included within these, but not published in the reports separately.

Other slight unknowns are the LWB models, and Security vehicles.

Also prior to 06, the published numbers don't add up to the published totals, so I've not gone any further back.

Graphs of % of total sales would also help give more visibility on what the new models mean to existing models as well (along with a total sales line). Fp&a right here.
I have all of that (YoY is actually Q on Q), and the % of total, but the graph it makes is pretty congested.

For interest, I've compared the 5er Saloon, Tourer and GT, along with X5, X6 and 7er and 6GC. I know it's a bit of a selection, but all of the vehicles may be cross-shopped against some of the others. I'll post up the graph once I've finished.

I am in Los Angeles and I have seen a fair number of X6s, comparatively. It's certainly hard to miss. It looks like a cartoon BMW that got inflated and is just a couple more blasts of air away from exploding...

...which is actually kind of cool lol.

About 18 months after getting my X1 I still only see a few a month, maybe not as often as one a week...but it's getting there.

3 series? Common as Camrys.

Yes I agree, just looked the most volatile, doubling then halving. A lot more models now too to pic from (not all coupes of course).

Seems like they had a stellar year for verts in 2008 but it has been in a steady decline since.

In koreatown, if you dont have a bmw or mercedes, you are a scrub. Its bloated with all models everywhere. So i had to fit the mold.

And it has to have LED headlights or you bought a cheapo bmw

More interested in the first year sales of the E92 3-series vs the first year sales 4-series.

this data is fascinating - thank you for posting.

very interesting to see the 3er Touring tick back up (significantly) after a number of years declining. looks like the new body style was well received.

You've got that right. You'd think 1/2 of all 3 series sold are sold in the state of California.

As the owner of a Z4 coupe I'm happy to see that it remains one of the rarest of the non M BMWs out there. I'm shocked to see that there aren't any sales reported in 2006 for it, I could have sworn production started in mid '06. Does that mean not a single one was delivered until '07? Crazy.

Awesome graphs and info! Would be cool if they separated the M models out as well.

The only numbers that really shock me are the X6. For a car with absolutely zero utility, it's selling very well.

Seriously, that many people bought an X6!?!??!
If you ever tour the BMW factory (once they start up tours again), you will see that an X6 is produced in about a 1 to 3 ratio vs. the X5 (as you can see by the actual numbers it is even more than that, but I digress).

Here in the US there are about 7,000 purchased every year and up until this past year, it was actually hard to get one and ready for this? It had one of the highest residuals of any BMW up until recently.

As far as utility, it has the same ground clearance as the X5 and just slightly less headroom in back. For those who don't need massive storage, the hatch holds a very usable amount of "stuff".

I got one because while test driving the X5, my daughter said "Dad, I see one of these X5s everywhere, doesn't BMW make something similar but a little more unique?" Point taken.

Except in China where X6s are EVERYWHERE and X5s are rare

Its going to be interesting especially for the mis-informed when we begin to see the competition arrive with their BMW X6 competitors. Which are coming.
Mercedes are first with their ML Coupe , Audi and the Q8 and even the next Porsche Cayenne is going to introduce a Coupe.

The X6 is a huge deal for BMW. Initial projection for the first two years was double the expectation at BMW. And the car dominates in key strategic growth markets. It no wonder competitors are moving forward on their own initial concepts.

Damn proliferation of X SAV's, diluting the brand....

All they did was represent 28% of 2013 sales...

Wonder what their profit contribution was?

Grey area. The sales figures weren't broken down for the Z4 in 06, so the number posted for the Roadster in 06 likely includes the Coupe. It's the only iffy number in 32 quarters of data!

One of the most significant things about these numbers is that how F10 is way more successful than E60. Obviously, the actual BMW 5 series customers like comfort, refinement.
