URU is already suffering the after effects of 'Suaregate.'

Colombia with James Rodriguez has been brilliant....

Sorry for Mexico. I feel a bit double and enbarrased almost for winning this game. Blame it on the terrible heat overthere.

Next time we need to be way more defensive and not letting those enormous spaces get us. Wake up Holland!

Cheers

Maybe yes ! But actualy Holland had not "one" but "two" penalties, the slow motion images are prove of it ?

Imagine how things will be in 2022 in Qatar. 38.2 Celsius is nothing compared to +50 degrees.

Yep, had the ref. called perhaps Mexico wouldn't feel so hard done by.

Expect 2 water breaks per each half.

97 deg F. is no joke. Congratulations on a well-deserved hard fought victory.

Proud that the Dutch are through but would't say they deserved it, based on their play. Football can be very cruel/unfair from time to time, but it keeps us all glued till the final whistle.

unless Qatar has 50+ Celsius with 40% humidity, it won't be bad....

humidity is far worse than any dry heat....

this is the first time any teams have had a "water break", because they're playing in June in Brazil...

it was funny one of the first nights I was watching a game - they were sayin "the unbearable heat tonight it's 84 degrees and 50% humidity"...

I laughed because it was identical to the weather here in Houston that night...

and then I heard the announcers talking about "these playing conditions are comparable to playing in Houston or Dallas"....

because dry heat is easy to overcome - humidity is brutal and WILL shut any elite athlete down....

I've been here for quite some time.
I'm in a very historic city called Salvador. The Fifa Fan Fest with the big screen and such showed the intense Brazil game yesterday and wow you could see the passion of Brazil on the faces of the locals. It's very magical here. Anyways, the Belgium's have invaded the hotel!

I've played all over the country, in every type of weather, and can tell you this: Hot is freaking hot, humidity or no humidity.

I would challenge you to go play in Phoenix in 110 heat in July and August and come back and tell us dry heat is easy to overcome. 110-120 degrees is not easy to over come by any stretch of the imagination.

I see the Mexico coach blaming the defeat on the ref. This game should be blamed on the coach, they scored then "parked" the bus. This allowed the Dutch to keep attacking in waves, poor tactics cost them the game not the ref.

I have only been there in July and August. The humidity there is stupid. You can see the saturation in the glow of all the exterior lights at night, hot as balls, f'n miserable. The weather in Iraq was nicer.

If they change up the time of year that the cup is held, maybe it won't be so bad, but it's definitely not doable in July, even in the dead of night.

been there, done that...

I was stationed in Yuma, Arizona Marine Corps Air Station in 1999.

people were "freaking out" because it was 117 degrees and I was out there playing basketball....

dry heat is easy because you can stay mobile without it affecting you...

humidity CAN and WILL make athletes shrivel into tiny piles of shit....

why do you think Houston has TWO enclosed stadiums...you won't see the Texans or the Astros play outdoors (unless it's in October), but you WILL see the Diamondbacks and Cardinals play outside, because it's much easier to play in 108 degrees and 8% humidity than it is 98-99 with 50% humidity.....

p.s.
right now in Houston it's 89 degrees with 79% humidity - it's only 10am...

Brazil should be very concerned about Colombia. I would not be surprised if those lose. They expended a ton of energy on that win and Colombia had a relatively easy match. Great to see Costa Rica win. CONCACAF representing. Now, if the USA can beat Belgium...

USA-Belgium...What a game !
From about min. 50 Howard had a lot of work !
Belgian team had at least 10-12 changes and the US was nowhere, but at min. 92 and it was still 0-0 the 2 US players 7-8 meters alone for the Belgium goalkeeper....Jesus it was almost over and out for Belgium, it was the biggest mistake of the US ,the result was been 1-0 for the US !
What can i say ? Saw a great game, but feel sorry for all my American friends on here !
