The new 1204 kg Clio RS just proves that replacing the 2.0-liter engine with 203 hp by the new 1.6-liter direct injection turbo engine delivering 200 hp and 240 Nm of torque allows the Clio to reach 230 km/h max. speed and 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds using a double clutch 6-speed gearbox with launch control function.

In the Toyobaru case, this would mean almost 1 second faster from 0 to 100 km/h, just the kind of performance improvement that I've been defending for the Toyobaru, the one that wouldn't compromise its superb handling characteristics.

Meh, does nothing for me. I would be shocked if the ND isn't much better looking, plus it won't be saddled with silly rear seats.

I'm now pretty much convinced that you are not in the market for a new car let alone the best driver's car you can buy. You just like to talk about cars and that's ok... so no car will do anything for you except the X1 in your sig that you say you bought to your wife.

Who would like to show his wife's car instead of his own while he goes to great lengths talking about the best driver's cars the money can buy?!

I'm sorry... keep going on talking.

How's your GT86 working out?

It's a forum, if we were actually buying cars, we'd probably be out driving them, not in here talking about them.

We're in a BMW forum too, so I list the current BMW in the household, I've sold mine and haven't replaced it. I'm in no rush, I have a short commute and a beater, a bicycle and public transit. I want a good, fun car, not just the first thing to be available.

The BRZ STI would likely cause me to actually buy something, the 4C with all three pedals too. I haven't driven a new Boxster, but a used Boxster Spyder is nearly a perfect fit for my "needs". I've owned Miatas before, I love them, but unless they really get the FD right, I'd probably not go back. If it's just a warmed over NC, there's no chance.

I have narrowed things down though, I know I want something sub 3k pounds, I don't really want to throw more than $50k at it and it would be nice if it held it's value reasonably well.

I still think that convertible GT86 is less than becoming. I'm not a fan of four seat convertibles, they nearly always look odd. They would have been better off just cutting out the fake rear seats. Modern, high bustled cars just look odd as convertibles, this, like the Nissan 370Z, looks forced.

Not great... I haven't managed to sell my 1M yet, so meanwhile when I'm not talking about cars and I'm driving the 1M I'm actually trying to improve my driving skills... but you know what, I have long ago realized that I need a better driver's tool to be able to enhance my skills.

You see, my passion is not brands or even cars, they are just a tool... my passion is driving. And, in the case you haven't noticed that's the reason why I'm such a BIG fan of drivers like Advevo or Kamui Kobayashi.

I'm sorry, but I don't buy your arguments.

What was my argument? That four seat convertibles are ugly? That's more of an opinion, but you're welcome to prove me wrong. The Toyobaru works great as a coupe, I'm not sold on it as a convertible.

A car is just a tool... but, like every other tool, it can be perfected in order to enhance your driving experience... Toyota and Subaru could do to the Toyobaru what Renault did to the Clio, like I've been defending:

Quote:
For Renault Sport , the new Renault*Clio RS is a major event. The manufacturer decided to completely change the approach of the car with this new generation replacing the 2.0-liter aspirated engine by a 1.6-liter Turbo engine:

All-new direct injection 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine, pushes out 200hp @ 6,000rpm
25Nm more torque than predecessor, and plenty of it mid-range. 240Nm from 1,750 to 5,500rpm

Quicker from 0-62mph – now 6.7 seconds

Tips scales at 1,204kg – 36 kilos lighter than previous Clio Renaultsport 200

Lower running costs with fuel economy and emissions slashed by almost a quarter. Former up 10.3 mpg to 44.8 mpg (combined) and latter slashed to 144g/km (down 46g/km).

Yes, but the price for the exclusive 'Launch Edition' is 60.000€. Let's see what the base price will be... Also, albeit the dry weight is ONLY 895 kg it will rise to ~1000 kg with driver and all fluids in...

Of course styling is very subjective. But for me nothing touches an Aston.

4C is nice, but those headlights are aweful.

Funny you have mentioned the Aston... which I think is aesthetically much more closely related to the Toyobaru:
