How many M cars have you owned?

I know a lot of you guys have had a few M cars. Curious who's had the most. Personally I've owned 3 E36 M3's and currently have an E46. I'm keeping an eye on E90 prices and will probably make the move this spring.

Garage List
2007 BMW 335i  [8.00]
1989 BMW M3  [8.20]
I've owned 5:

2 e30 M3's
2 e36 M3's
1 e46 M3

I currently own a 1989 e30 M3. Nothing else compares to these cars and I feel lucky to own a super nice example.

I had an E46 M3 for a little while before it was totaled by a drunk driver. I LOVED that car, especially the S54, but if I don't get an E60 M5 down the road as a daily, my E46 will most likely be the newest M car I'll own - I don't like the way the M ("Marketing") division is headed at all. That being said, my next car will be an E30 M3 that I will go full retard on (BBS RS, OEM Evo 2 aero, coils, built S14, etc).

They're appreciating pretty quickly.

Wish I had the cash for a project 318is. There's also a great S54 E30 swap thread on r3v, check it out if you haven't seen it.

I'm usually on E30Tech but I think I've seen the thread you're talking about (there's a couple). A slicktop (no sunroof) 318iS would definitely be great but I'm getting rid of the 325iS and getting a 4-door for that sleeper/unique feel. An S54 with carbon airbox/alpha tune would be my dream swap.

Yeah really, they're one of the few remaining who have their shit together... although electric steering in the 991 kills it a little as I've heard.

love the look of the 4 door e30s. and yeah, s54 swaps are great and all but the amount of time involved would make me question if it's worth it, even if I found all the parts in a shed. Guy in the thread was going through wiring diagrams and went through at least 2 full e46m harnesses, not to mention custom fabrication of a bunch of parts that obviously wouldn't just swap over.

A buit + possibly boosted M/S 50/52 makes much more sense i think, considering all the hard work has already been done in all the swaps that have come before.

this reminds me of a custom fabricated e30 around an s85. obviously ferrari-price but I don't think it gets any better than that.

That's the rumor, I'll have to try it for myself. I went to look at the new 911 today, it's good, definitely a bit bigger (which I hate) but the interior is very nice, and there is more usable space (bigger trunk). If anyone can get electric power steering right it would be Porsche, they dont make very many mistakes when it comes to driving dynamics.

Totally agree on the built and boosted M50... which is why there's an M50 in my garage there's turbo parts, MLS headgasket, ARP studs, etc lying around too. 450 wheel is my eventual goal (anything more in an E30 is pretty much unusable) and the only real reason I'd go S54 is to feed my inner purist and stay N/A.

Oh and that S85... especially with the Dinan stroker... is God's gift to pavement.

S85 is great....smg....not so sure, the trans is the main reason I got rid of my M5 when the warranty ran out, I loved the car, and could deal with the smg-ness, but I just didn't trust it.

I also test drove a Panamera turbo recently, pdk is very good but I may be a dying breed mt guy, because I didn't love it, I know it's 'better' but I think my next Porsche will be mt.

Agreed there moving away from what made a BMW a BMW. like going towards EPS steering which i hate. Making economy number1 and not perforamce. Giving less customization choices
