Private msg's not working

Hiya, i was just wondering how i can send private msg's to member's on the site. Their doesn't seem to be any private msg link's on member's profiles.
I have read that you need to have posted more than 6 post to get access to this feature but i have now posted 6 post's and still i have not this feature?
