5 dead in an M5 on a private airstrip

This is a warning to those who push the limit.

I'm not sure if they were racing or not but there are plenty of people who are unsafe with their cars.

sucks, but this about sums it up:

The Internet message board was buzzing Sunday with news of the crash and speculation that Ammirato may have posted messages shortly before his death.

Some forum posters questioned AmericanM5's driving experience and wondered how somebody so young had access to such an expensive car. In response to some of these questions, AmericanM5 wrote: "I do sometimes make bad decisions but I am young and I do drive safe and I will not endanger the lives of others."

Other posters warned him to be careful driving his car at a high speed with one person writing, "My only bit of advice matey -- If you crash in a big way expect to be on the news. Enjoy and resist the temptation to drag others at the lights."

This has been going aronud the internet all morning. The driver of the car was actually posting on an M5board online yesterday about the new car he got and how he wanted to test out how fast it would go and stuff. People on the m5board were making fun of him for only being 18 and being young and dumb. Kinda freaking actually. Search around there are links out there to the M5 board.

Eerily similar to some of the posts here. Makes one appreciate the rigorous German driving training/licensing requirements.

I guess parents just don't get it. Don't buy or borrow your 18 yr old son a sports car especially an M5. 18 yr olds and 500hp do not mix! Wow!

This happened in Anthony 10 miles from my office on a private airstrip in a gated, secured community. Some data has not been released yet but there is no evidence of racing at all. The data so far is an 18 y/o teenager with a 500 hp BMW M5 as a daily driver. Too much car for him in my opinion and now five lost lives. From what we are hearing, he was trying to make some top speed runs on the airstrip. Very sad news . . . A lot of talk from him on an M5 forum asking how to drive the car faster and getting opinions on if the car would go faster with the traction control/stability mgmt system off, ect just hours before him crash . . .

I guess he didnt get the memo 155 mph governed. Maybe he thought traction being off would increase that. I dont see how it would...
