The builders Instagram has more videos of it. Neat concept, it sounds absolutely insane and very RB like for sure.

Been following this guy on Instagram... absolutely insane build. Love to see new stuff being done with the N55.

It is for real. It's a custom built destroked N55. He'll be offering this exact build for customers real soon. I can't imagine it'll be any cheaper than a fully built 3L N55 goes for. This build is definitely more entertaining than the carbon copy builds out there.

Any headwork done to it? The stock N55 head flows terrible - but a high revving monster sounds so cool. I would love it - modern day E46!

The equal length header manifold is already for sale, I believe they're only making them available for 2 different turbos though and the price begins at $6.5k (that's just headers).

Out of curiosity can anyone chime in with experience around equal length builds - if you had the headers remade at equal length would there be much change in sound? I understand the flow would be a lot better as the standard N55 headers are pretty terrible.

I had my friend who builds custom exhausts quote me up and it was pretty reasonable - he mostly works on custom titanium builds for Porsche and McLarens but was happy to build this.. problem is I don't really fancy sinking a few hundred Ł's if the equal length doesn't change anything (I know it won't be a 9k screamer)

Equal length primaries play a HUGE role in how the engine sounds.

If you put equal length primaries on a Subaru, the burble is completely gone.

You can post that everywhere, but they won't get it or refuse to believe it.

It's a worked head. He's got like close to 30psi through the motor revving to 9k.

And it’s still overpriced. I remember being on My350z when Sasha of SG motor works/On point made long tube headers for the VQ34DE - it was considered “high end” with properly calculated primaries and collectors and “the best materials” and that was $2500 then.

That was an engineered piece, where his VQ made 4xxwhp when people were struggling to make over 300whp.
Yeah tubular manifolds can make more power IF they are sized correctly. This just seems excessive for what they are. 3k maybe. But $6500 is outrageous.

$6,500 is for a full frame complete turbo kit ceramic coating included with an EFR 8474, 9274, or 9280 turbo. it’s also on sale right now -500 off.

The 4N-N5X EFR kit comes with a custom motor mount bracket to clear the EFR turbo, heat shielding, PNP coolant pipe, a tab to lower the water pump, turbo oil pressure fittings and line, drain line, single 3.5 DP, 3.5 standard intake. Water reservoir tank relocation to driver side is required. This kit can be configured with your factory EWG or IWG actuator.

Do our cars have headers? Or is it the turbo manifold? I’ve seen the M2 N55 has a better flowing turbo manifold than the F3x N55, better flow and less than $1k.. just gotta confirm fitment

Just reviewed your website. 6.5K isn't horrible for a complete turbo kit - but 19K for a "built" engine where you have to source your own block, oil sump kit, and no headwork is ridiculous. You're also talking about 9000RPM and using the stock profile camshaft?

The stock head flows terrible, and this has been known for a while. All you're doing is asking a slower spooling big turbo to use brute force overcome it. You could make 600WHP without a built engine - I know 2 people on the forum doing it now.

N54 heads flow the same as N55 heads:

You can have VAC build a complete engine as well, including higher displacement or changing the rod/stroke ratio keeping the displacement at 3 liters. I assume since they sell heads, they are included in the build if you want it:

Stage 1 starts at $1,300, and supposedly is a small bump in flow. $2,700 If you want stage 2 which already includes an upgraded valvetrain minus cams:
https://store.vacmotorsports.com/vac...n55-p4779.aspx

Full on Race engine:
https://store.vacmotorsports.com/bmw...n55-p1464.aspx

Camshaft:
https://store.vacmotorsports.com/sch...s55-p4950.aspx

I love the idea - especially as a guy who came from Japanese cars and loving all things (classic) Nissan, but this kit needs refinement.

They have exhaust manifolds. The M2's manifold does flow better than a standard N55 - but who knows how much. It will fit any other EWG car, but will require you to make changes to fit a PWG.
I'm wondering if Pure or anyone else who takes N55 cores differentiates between the M2/X40i manifold and turbo and the standard EWG.

For what it's worth, I believe the RB26DETT head flows 23X -24X CFM Range.

You can see a 380WHP GTR with a 8000RPM Redline go to 600WHP and beyond, including the benefits of headwork. FYI this was on 94oct:

Looks like they updated their listing to include headwork "oil system upgrades" and Shrick Cams.

Squeaky wheel boys.
