BMW E92 M3 or 2015 Nismo 370z Tech?
So, my lease is up SOON... Should I buy a CPO E92 m3 or a brand new Nismo 370z Tech?
I like REALLY like the M3 but expensive for repairs, 370z is beautiful and sexy BUT the interior looks kind of old, love the seat but not the plastics... M3 is faster and it sounds mean but I love the way Nismo's sounds too... They both have Warranties, but new one is better than Used... M3 has a better Interior but 370z has a sexier exterior... And I can insure a 2015 Nismo 370z for $164 and 7 bucks more for the M3 So which one? |

For maintenance, here's a recent discussion:
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...=pile+of+money In terms of warranties..I assume you're spending $45k or so on a car. The Nissan will get you in on a new car warranty which is only 3 years 30k bumper and 5 years 60k drivetrain. M3, you're looking at a 2-year old car (about a 2011 or 2012 model year), which will have the balance of 4-year 50k miles (bumper to bumper). But you also get 2 years of oil changes, 1 brake fluid change, and maybe a spark plug change for free. If warranty isn't your major concern then, if you can afford the M3, buy the M3. Because M3 forum. Last edited by Flying Ace; 10-17-2014 at 12:19 PM.. |

I haven't driven a 2015, but I have driven a 2013 - I'd take my M3 any day as a DD.

M3 > G37 > 370z
Aftermarket warranty is less than $4k and will cover the car for another 5 year and 100kmi ontop of the milage the car has now. I feel like a broken record answering this so much as of late. Call Colin @ wanted auto protect. PM if you don't do a search and find the number. I've posted it 100x's |

A friend of mine keeps making me drive his 370Z Sport 6MT to see how I like it compared to the M3. It's a fun car, and has decent power, but not quite in the same league as an E9x M3. The Z is more economical to own. It is also more common, and the interior is less comfortable/ somewhat claustrophobic. Overall you get more with an M3, but you also pay more.

True, but I like it... And I heard the new one should have the AMG motor... I'm thinking of buying an E92 M3 when the newer is already out...

I bought my 2011 E92 M3 ZCP with every option checked 16k miles just 2 months ago for $48.3k. That's from a sticker price of $74k. I let the previous owner pay for that steep depreciation hit. My depreciation will be at a much lower rate. |

370z / Nismo is one of the most reliable performance cars available. I did extensive research on their reliability and have been kicking around trading in my M3 for one. They only have minor problems with minor cost associated. Nothing like the bearing issues we have which can lead to major costs. Maintenance cost are much lower, parts much lower, your long term cost and risk points to buying the Nismo as it will be a less expensive and lower risk car. However, they don't respond to mods very well but you cant really mod out the M3 either or risk $$$. They don't have all the high tech and bells and whistles in the engine and the cabin, nor the prestige of a M3 so you lose that. However because they have less bells and whistles and engine high tech, they tend to not break down as much. Two edged sword. Plus, buying one new tends to be a mistake as you can buy one 1 year old with hardly any miles for around 32k. Hard to find them used however, they tend to go pretty quick. Slower than our car, power band is a bit bland, no high RPM excitement to keep the blood boiling. Since I only owe 39k on my 2011 I find it hard to pay more for a new NISMO....especially since the original sticker on a M3 is over 65 to 75k and a NISMO brand new can be had for around 43k. One last comment lol...I have the enhanced premium sound on my M3 and it sounds like ass, tried to adjust it settings still sounds like azz, my mother in laws Civic sounds better then my stereo so I am guessing the NISMO stereo will kill ours.
That's my .02 cents. Last edited by Sinful; 10-17-2014 at 06:45 PM.. |

Not common, but biggest worry and huge potential loss is the bearing problems we all love to discuss on this forum. However, it appears to be very low probability. The NISMO has no common repair worth even mentioning. This is from the time I spent on their forums, and research I did.

I recommend going with the M3.............it's simply the better driving experience between the two regardless if it's a DD or you're tacking it or both. Keep in mind you pay for what you get.......

You are in a M3 forum so you will obviously get more votes for M3 including mine. I drove a 370z a long time ago when they first came out and was not impressed. I would choose the car depending on what you're looking for. If you are looking for more of a driving experience/pleasure I would choose the M3 hands down. But if you need a car that's newer and cheaper to operate then get the 370z.
Test drive both and see what you like more. Also keep in mind that the e92 m3 will be a timeless car that will never be reproduced. The 370z will be old news when the new version replaces it.

Regardless if what any of us think, it will be your car. Drive both, and then make up your mind.
I feel you will be getting a much better car for the money buying a used M3 over a New 370Z. With that said used vs used its a close call because you would be saving a lot of money. Maybe look into a 09 370z vs 09 M3. Big difference in money but the less money you spend on the car , the more you can mod. It comes down what's more important, better factory car or better from mods. Don't forget to drive a used C6 (z51) or maybe 06-07 ZO6. Vettes are not my thing but I always recogmend people try them. Have you looked at a GT500 or SRT8 Challenger? What about 09 jag XKR. They are high 30's low 40's |
