New M3 owner
Hello all,
I just picked up an 2008 e93 M3 6mt with 17,000 miles on it! Just in time for winter, lol. So far I am loving the car. I traded in an Audi S5 and it is pretty much night and day between the cars. The M3 is much stiffer and responsive than the S5. I loved my S5, but I just wanted a change and I always wanted a M3. Is there anything in particular I should look out for in regards to maintenance/issues?? |

OP, welcome and Congratulations! Post up some pics so we can Celebrate with you.
There are tons of threads on what to watch out for (maintenance / issues) so at the risk of being short, I would say spend a weekend reading through everything. First recommendation however, if your oil hasn't been changed in awhile, change it and get a Blackstone Oil Analysis. www.blackstone-labs.com Good luck and Enjoy! Chris

Audi...blah...Good move going with the M3.
Glad you moved over to the real deal... Everybody talks about the bearing issues with these cars and grenading engines. Its however a low probability and If you maintain it correctly like changing the oil more frequently than BMWs insane 15k recommendation..and keep the warranty on it then your good. |

I've driven the S5 pretty hard and M3 is the clear drivers car. Great choice OP

Congrats. I'm in the same boat. While my car is still in the process of being shipped, the excitement is there none the less. Enjoy.

Welcome onboard man - 17k miles for a 2008 is nothing!
As the guys says don't go cheap with the oil changes and you'll be fine. Most folks do it twice the BMW recommendation i.e. 7.5k miles, or more. Cheers |

First mods I did to my E93 was blackout the kidney grills and get vinyl done for the trim Made a night and day difference. Easy mods too.

The key here is that that car is in WI (unless dealer bought at auction and shipped) - as in 6-7 months of brutal winter. So these cars are often summer only cars and summer is short - so not crazy concept to find a low mileage car in MN and WI.
