what DCT setting will induce tire spin/chirp when shifting?
I have read about owners who experience such crisp shifts that they report some gear change induced tire spin. Im assuming when shifting from 1st to second - though would not be supriised if also from 2nd to 3rd.
Ive only had my M3 for a few weeks but have not felt the gear changes are so direct to cause tire chirp. Likely I have just not yet combined DCT settings with agressive driving to induce this. Would be great to expereince a little M-Diff induced slide as gears shift.

DSC would prevent that very early. You need to change to S6 mode, which is only selectable with DSC disabled, reason being that DSC would rule in with that sharp setting. S6 is also mandatory for enabling launch control mode for the same reason.

On a warm day with good pavement I definitely get some chirp from 1-2 and 2-3 WITH DSC still on in mode 5. DSC is in MDM mode however.
I'm also on 18 inch rims with 285 PSS tires in the back and I am running a bit more power than stock.

Like other posters, MDM chirps tires to third. Euro MDM makes it slip more so you get a bigger chirp ;p DSC off usually just gets wheel spin but I'm sure you could modulate it to just get some spin..

S5 w/euro mdm and gts dct software = perfection, while still retaining somewhat of a safety net if things go too far sideways

Bone stock car, S5, shift at around 7500 and it'll just bang into gear. With the RPM's any higher for me the car just shifts smoother... I didnt need MDM or "Power" to get the chirps.

On generally good and warm surfaces S4, S5 and S6 MDM or traction control off. WOT or very near WOT also required.

After I got the GTS DCT software, I've noticed its a lot more harsh 2-3 shift on the S5, and brakes loose a bit.
I've also noticed shifting right at redline doesn't seem to shift as hard as shifting before redline. |

I'll have to try that and compare. I usually shift at 8k. I thought we kept making power up until 8200+ rpm.

This is an interesting thread for me. My 2012 335is shifted hard for me in "D", very hard.
My M3 setup D_5 does not shift hard. To achieve the shifts I got in the 335is in D, I have to go to S_6 in my M3. |
