Checklist for Major Service

My brother in law and I are going to do a major service on my 08 E92 M3 in the very near future. It has nearly 48,000 miles on it. I came up with the following list of things to do based on what I've read in this forum. Please look at it and tell me if I am missing anything or if you would do anything differently.

1. Oil change with filter (already purchased OEM oil and filter through a dealer at a great price)... only 2,000 miles since the last change but it has been 12 months (I have a short commmute and drive it 2-3 days per week).
2. Check brake pads and rotors... never changed
3. Flush brake fluid (32 oz Castrol GTLMA DOT 3/4 synthetic fluid)... never done
4. Flush coolant (???)... never done
5. Flush Differential Oil (3 x 500mL part number 83 22 2 282 583)... never done
6. Flush Power steering fluid (Pentosin CHF-11S... on cap in engine bay... also need to get crush washers)... never done
7. Flush DCT fluid ( Pentosin FFL-4 part numbers 1L: 83 22 0 440 214 BMW DCTF-1 or 20L: 83 22 2 147 477 BMW DCTF-1)... never done
8. Replace cabin air microfilter (OEM 64 31 915 9606 or aftermarket MANN CUK22 008-4)... current one 10,000 miles old
9. Replace engine air filter (aftermarket... drop in of choice)... current one 37,000 miles old.
10. Replace spark plugs (8 x NGK 4471 LKR8AP spark plugs)... never changed
11. Check hoses and belts... never changed

I think this is a pretty comprehensive list for a car with nearly 48,000 miles. I'll send the oil out to get it analyzed. Should I have any other fluids analyzed? Also, does it matter what coolant we use? I searched extensively but could not find a good answer.

While you have your front wheels off, using a flashlight, look in the hole in the fender liner and check out your motor mounts.

Good thread! I too have 48k miles and just recently bought all this stuff in preparation for a big maintenance interval. Think you got everything covered. For the coolant I picked up a jug of the BMW brand stuff. Might end up waiting another 10k to do the transmission fluid even though I bought it.

Garage List
I check my fasteners. The body has plastic fasteners of all types that can rattle loose. Underneath too. Spark plugs should be changed as frequently as every 30k. You can also treat your rubber with the appropriate formula. It used to be silicon, there might be something new. Lube your sunroof mechanism if you have one. You can clean and lube the folding mirror mechanism too. Anything that moves can be kept clean and working optimally. Clean and grease if needed your adjustable seat rails. Clean the inside of your wheels while they're off. Etc. Door, trunk and hood latches. Lubricate the tumblers in the locks of the driver's door and the truck, glove box. Make sure you have the tire sealant in the truck where it goes.

If you choose to do the gas tank injector cleaner, I recommend doing this prior to the oil change. Any contaminants freed up that get picked up by the oil will then be mostly removed.

Nice list of things to do!
