Any audiophiles in here?

What hardware are you running? I have a set of Paradigm studio 100s with a wyred4sound DAC-2 and and Anthem integrated 225 amplifier. Almost all of my audio is 88/24 flac with some 44/16, but I also have some 192/24 stuff that just sounds unreal.

Paradigm (from back when they had real wood cabs) and Marantz source and power for me in the home.

Still have my Nakamichi Music-bank, Boston Pro components, ARC subs and Rodek power from my old car set up that i swear i'll use again someday.

I use sennheiser hd 600 headphones. I run optical from sound card into a dac/amp and then too the headphones. I've heard some great speakers before, but definitely don't rule out a nice pair of reference quality headphones with a good source/amp.

IMO I think a proper DAC, proper amp, good source and a proper pair of headphones cannot be beaten.

It seems like we have an audiophile thread popping up once a month.

what's a good setup for a dedicated home theater room. Receiver($1000) and 2 front speakers , sub and center? say $3000 for speakers. I want to stay under $5k I've had yamaha, onkyo and sony receivers in the past but that was 5+ years ago.

My cans that I use constantly for work/travel are my Grado SR325is. Love the retro look and feel of them.

Go go grados; I've wanted to get a pair of their rs series but with akg, sennheiser, audio technica, akg, etc. I just can never pull the trigger. The hd 600s I have just all around seemed so neutral. I got a cheap pair of sr60s I use for my cell phone. They like treble, however this is off crappy non amped cell phone 3.5mm mini jack. They shit all over the crappy earbuds cell phones and mp3 players come with, but that's not enough. However what do you think of the 325is? They bassy, more trebel, or just neutral?

It took me a handful of months and waffling between options to finally pull the trigger on my set. I would say there was a bit of an adjustment period for me as I wasn't used to open cans. After a couple years of usage I wouldn't necessarily categorize them as bassy as much as I would mention how dynamic the range is. I would say they are a good compromise between neutral and treble. I love them dearly, although I am looking into something a bit more convenient to travel with.

I'll have to find somewere to listen to them. For my "set" I kind of want a set of high end "audio technica, sennheiser(have), akg, grado(only have low end), and ultrasone".

I have a decent "source" setup but lol some people don't realize some of these headphones cost as much as a TBE for a car if not more. However the music is extremely awesome.

For the TV:

- Onkyo 7.2 System (do not use all 7 channels but it had the right set of features)
- 3 Martin Logan Electrostatic speakers (front-right, middle, and left)
- 2 small Sony for the rear-right and left
- 1 10" subwoofer

For the LPs:
- music hall mf2.2
- Musical Fidelity V-LPS II pre-amp

I am quite pleased with it. For ultra-personal listening I have some Bose Noise Canceling headphones at work and Seinheiser HD 250s.

I used to have a very oddly shaped living room (I have since moved) so Mirage omnis offered a good compromise. Not high end (or even close to it) but it works for now...

My current setup:
Panasonic GT25 Plasma
Mirage OS3-CC
Mirage OS3-FS
Mirage OS3-Sat
Sony 7.1 - don't know the model # but that's probably the next to be replaced.

I see a lot of HT setups, anyone have something dedicated for 2 channel audio?

See my post (#2). My Linkwitz Orions are quad-amped, that's why I use a multi-channel amp even though I have but two speakers. I also have a Pass Labs pre-amp that I could use in place of the Denon receiver.
