Ahh...first year model updates. Gotta love them. At least Porsche is appears to be ready for a buyback/replace.

I wouldn't throw too many stones from a BMW house at Porsche. I feel *far* better about long term running costs on our Cayman then I do on the 335d. I also am not a fan for overly complex electrical systems that are invading every car but its the cost of 'progress'.

Wow one guy had a problem with a 991. It must mean the entire brand is crap and unreliable.

Not sure if that explains it. Most of his problems are things like panels falling off, electric insulation, window seal, loose electrical connections, etc. That's not really the kind of stuff that gets radically redesigned every generation. Between this and the GT3 fires, it's hard to see why they command such astronomical prices.

Looks like PCNA did the right thing and they appeared to have offered good ol' Nick a full replacement.

Just goes to show the power of persistence and the internet.

Despite all of this, I still love the Porsche brand. They have the reputation of building some of the greatest driver's cars on the planet.

And despite the recent "hiccups", Nick's case is a very isolated incident. You can read your own fair share of BMW horror stories right in this forum where BMWNA has had to buy back faulty cars.

The GT3....yeah that was a cluster. Porsche had to replace the engine of all GT3 owners free of charge for that one.

In aggregate though, Porsche's have a reputation of being extremely reliable vehicles.

Yeah but lemons happen to every manufacturer.

My first F30 M Sport 335i was a lemon. Some of its best features: taillight assembly fell off during day 1 of ownership; the front seat frames and seat belt hardware were covered in rust; the Comfort Access did not work; the Adaptive Headlights failed weekly; and the worst culprit was the electric cooling fan, which crapped out 3 times (each time stranding me in moving traffic).

BMW bought the car back and I was extremely satisfied with how they handled the situation. My next F30 M Sport 335i was built like a tank.

Stuff happens.

Very true, but this took PorscheNA over a year to do anything about it and to offer him a buy back...

Two sides to every story.

Could have to do with the fact that the Porsche is considerably more expensive.

Also, we have no idea of this man's history with Porsche NA and the dealership. Dealers tend to not want to lose the business of longstanding customers. First timers? Perhaps a different story (unfortunately).

Porsche simply does not stand behind their products. Just yesterday I got a class action notice in the mail about Porsche's coolant hoses breaking loose. If they break loose they douse the rear tires with coolant. They will not warranty a pre emptive repair as it requires removal of the engine. How's that for having security in your 911 while doing a track day or on the backroads?

They make some of the most lustworthy cars available but they try to weasel out of warranty whenever possible. They're owned by VW who also owns Audi. Audi tries to weasel out of everything as well.

Also agreed, but being a premium car brand I would expect MUCH more out there customer service department. If I was that person, I would be royally pissed. My friend with a hyundai genesis had a lemon and it was bought back within two months. If hyundai can do it better than you, you have a problem.

I love how all the porsche people and fanbois overlook the engine failures in the new GT3. They applause porsche for replacing engines in cars that are overpriced to begin with and have barely even hit the streets, but if it were a competitor or even a different brand, they would be talking shit about them.
