I sold my 2012 last year due to a family move. waited on GT4, grew impatient, new M3/4 power delivery felt too odd, got back in yesterday with a CPO 13 with 4900 miles. This one stays for a LOOOOG time.

I was actually considering moving on to the F8x platform but recent acquisitions have made me realize how amazing this engine is.
Many cars are faster but the way this thing revs and how controllable/flexible the acceleration pedal is, I don't think other than a GT3/GT4 or very least the 981 GTS would've satisfied me the same way. However, eventually I really do want a smaller car that is more "tossable" and I can see myself reaching for an M2.

I happily owned and loved an e46 m3 for 7 1/2 years before I bought my E92 last year. It took me about a week before I recognized this car is better in just about every little way. Didn't make me love the e46 less, just made it easier not to miss. I fully intend on driving it at least 5-6 years, and don't pone for the new one at all.
When it's time for the next one I really think I'm getting a GT 350 mustang instead. It feels a lot more like what the next M3's evolution should have been |

Warranty just expired on my 2011....modding for HANDLING PURPOSES ON THE TRACK ONLY have begun and she will go from my daily to the track toy.
I will say this, driving her 365 days a year, including winter with a winter wheel setup has kept her running PERFECTLY at 55k, swear she is running stronger now than ever. Never a SINGLE problem except actuator, that happened right after warranty expired but dealer told me not to worry and covered it and the other bank that had not failed yet. F80 is a sick car, but I'm still ABSOLUTELY in love with my e92, comp, DCT, cloth / manual seats, SSII. I literally feel the same today as the first day I brought her home brand spankin new. My wife swears it cost us mess $$$ then a shrink she swears I would have needed all these years without her (the car that is ). Cheers, e46e92

I had mine up for sale for about a month and got several injuries and some offers even. Changed my mind completely and decided to keep it for the time being. Took the add off and all that. Will do some light mods. Felt like selling it in 6 months was just not fair considering how awesome these cars are and as a kid always wanted a M3.

I've actually looked into other options to see if I would ever want to jump ship and so far, nothing has done all of what my e92 m3 does. C7 Stingray, Porsche 911 GTS, Cayman GTS (very, very close but not sure I want a 2 seater), BMW m4...etc. The only car I see having a solid chance is the 911 GT3 but again, no backseat and no cargo space. |

I, like you, love this platform although the Porsche Cayman GTS is very nice. I plan to re-engineer the engine (maybe a Dinan) and tune the transmission. I went with the E92 because I honestly like it better than the new F8X platform plus I like the naturally aspirated engine. I do think that BMW seems to taken a step back with their newer M cars. At the end of the day the question is are you happy with your car? Be it a Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Audi etc... I sure am. |
