HTC One and USB Connection

Just sold my '08 135i convertible for a 2011 M3 Convertible and have been working on updating all the software in the car (iDrive/NAV). I've gotten everything to work but I can't seem to get the BMW Connected App on my HTC One M8 to see the car using the USB port in the glove box or the armrest box. I've searched the forum line by line going back probably 15-18 pages and only I've only seen random statements about people getting an Android phone to connect.

Has anyone gotten this to work? If so, how?

Most functions work just fine with BT but I'd really like to simply be able to use the steering wheel controls to just flip through my Pandora stations without pulling the phone out of my pocket.

Wow so no one has gotten an current Android phone to connect via the USB port in a 2011?

I have a 2011 and HTC One M8 - will give this a shot this afternoon

Edit: Looks like you need to have 2013+ for it to sync properly

I have a combox retrofit in my 09 and my m8 links up with the Bluetooth. As far as getting a cable to work, I had no luck with that.

I think that's amazing that they can't get an Android phone to sync in a 2011 car.

It's ridiculous. I think only the HTC One, Moto x and blackberry phones allow the for the office emails to show up too.

Yea I agree. I get everything via BT but can't get it to work with the Connected Apps. I know this sounds lazy but I just want to be able to get Pandora on the screen so I don't have to keep taking my phone out of my pocket.

So its definitely an Android thing....plugged in my daughters Iphone 5 and it worked just fine.
