Just tracked a Z28. REALLY impressive car. The aero is noticeable at med-high speed corners and over crests. The brakes are phenomenal. The suspension control, response, and feel is excellent and the car is really easy to drive.

You can drive it in understeer - oversteer at any slip angle you want, and the car is predictable and a lot of fun. The car actually feels under-powered, which is how good the chassis, aero, and suspension is, but enough power for easy sideways antics. Not sure about the negative reviews on the car, but I had a blast with it.

Considering the weight the car is very impressive. The track time it laid down at VIR was even more surprising being nearly identical in time as the Ferrari F12.

If you want more HP just put on some headers, CAI and a tune, and you will pick up nearly 50HP. The LS7 is a very easy car to extract HP.

i agree. i love the car myself. but for me the pricing is a big downside to this car. over here it's over $77k in price, and that's a huge price for any car, let alone a track toy you will use maybe half a dozen times a year or so. not to mention the maintenance costs are gonna be hard to swallow. those 305 mm slicks and carbon ceramic rotors ain't gonna be cheap to replace when you burn them out on the track.

for me a used c6 z06 is a more attractive option. they have the same drive train and engine, but cost half the z28. and can be easily modded to be even faster.

Saw this car in person a few weeks ago....looks beastly. Would never buy it personally but I can appreciate it.

Topic 1: A 20-30lbs difference in engine weight (which is the difference between the S65 and the LS7) means absolutely nothing in the context of a 3500 lbs car. Literally it is not measurable performance wise.

Topic 2: despite the advantageous construction of the C7, using aluminum this, CF that and a super duper lightweight engine, it weighs only 50lbs less than a 4 seat coupe. In the context of a conversation where less weight means more performance, this is not very impressive. Or perhaps the M4's weight achievement should be given more credit.
I think he is confused because you brought up the argument about a German manufacturer making a 7.0 liter would have better hp per liter and would be over the 500 hp...which would be true, but if they made one that big it would also weigh twice as much as the S65. So, even though the LS7 is 7 liters and only making 500hp, it is still impressive because the end result is same weight as S65 with better game mileage...not to mention easy to add cheap HP.

I agree. That's why I bought a used ZR1
