M performance brakes installed!

Hello everyone,

I recently installed the M performance brake kit for my 2015 335i. I wanted to post some pictures and give my overall impression for those who may be interested in a similar install!

I initially ordered the parts OEM from Scott Dunham of BMW of Houston North-he gave me a great deal on the parts and was quick to ship them out.

I then scheduled a install with Kelly Williams of Mod Squad Motorsports-he is by far the best installer I have worked with. Kelly has installed my M bumper conversion and my navigation retrofit on my previous f30 so he is a expert at what he does! In addition to installing the parts Kelly also set up coding with Bimmertech so that the brakes would work as intended.

Impressions:
Overall, this upgrade has been amazing for me so far. I did alot of research prior to the install and heard about the problems other forum members experienced after the brakes were added. One problem members noted was a mushy feeling when pressing the brakes-once I started driving I can say that I did not experience this at all. When braking it feels like it has a significantly stronger bite than stock and is more progressive as well-this may be due to how Kelly installed the brakes (so make sure you get a good installer for less of a headache ). One thing to note, is that the brake dust is significantly increased in comparison to stock-this is attributed to the M performance brake pads. If you want less brake dust I would advise to get a different brake pad such as the porterfield R4S. This upgrade has really improved the look of the car as well. I have been getting alot of compliments on the brakes and plan on getting a new set of rims with a more open design to really show them off

I have added some pictures below. If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer them!

In addition to the brakes, Kelly also installed some OEM LED fog lights. I attached some pictures as well for those who are interested!

Thanks for the mentions and compliments justin. One thing when installing any brake kit is that you must rigoriously bleed the brakes using high quality brake fluid. I think the ones that complained of a mushy pedal still had air in the brake lines.

Anyway, as always it is a pleasure working with you!

Wow, love the looks! I'd love to have this installed on my car. I only have the single piston brakes so this is a big upgrade.

But i must say, the calipers look surprisingly alike, besides from the color and the larger mounts they look exactly the same!

From what I recall, the front bumper was removed to access the fog lights. The OEM LED fog lights are a direct fit but coding is still required to make them work properly.

Do you have the cornering light coding? If so does it work the same as the halogens?

Yes, the coding made the LED foglights function exactly like the halogens which includes cornering.

The brakes are nice, but what about that garage. A Targa parked sideways! Perfect.

Thanks for sharing. Now I have to get out a measuring tape and see if I have enough room for a weekend car to fit sideways in my garage. I already know the answer but one can dream.

Depends what you want really , if you want brand new then you can be spending round about £1500-£1600 in here uk

I just bought mine used from 6months old car Blue one and paid £650 all four brakes discs pads and sensors included which was bargain of the century

There is a guy in Greece who sells these sets and complete ones and few people on forum bought of him , let me dig his details and I will post it here mate

I don't know what prices are these in states

@BLACKTAN send him PM see if he has any sets

I should be adding the wheels in the next few weeks.

If you go to a BMW dealership they will charge you a arm and a leg; sometime the price can exceed the cost of the brakes itself

I have heard about some forum members with good relationships with their dealers to have prices around the $500-$600 point. However, that i the outlier and not the average. I had worked with my installer Kelly many times in the past and I was lucky to get a great price on install

If you don't want to drain your bank account through BMW a trusted installer is the way to go. If you are not familiar with any reputable installers then it may be the safer route to just pay BMW to make sure it's installed and coded correctly.
