M5 Limited Edition

Spoke to my local dealer today, he asked if I was interested in a VERY rare car that BMW was releasing soon. It is a Limited Edition M5, very rare indeed, apparently only 25 worldwide and only 1 to come to Australia and this dealer was getting the car.

So I'm now curious, I did a search but could find no reference to one as yet.

Anyone else heard about this car?

why would they do a limited edition E60 now?? You would think they would wait for the new M5 to arrive, than base a limited edition model off of the new platform.

I wouldnt look too much into it, they never do the limited editions on the basis of improving performance. It is always some Paint and different cloth on the inside.

Not worth too much over the standard car, IMO.

He didn't mention colours etc, but did say it would be a AU$10 -12k premium over standard.

Given that they are retail (excluding taxes and options) $240k in Australia that is a very small premium.

The topic came up because I was interested in the E92 Special Edition, but found that of the 3 left in the country, only 5 or 6 came here in total, they were all DCT, which is not for me. So I think it is a real car, or will be, and is not a myth. Given the end of production is near on these it makes sense that it is real IMO.

If I get more info I will post it.

Because they want to squeeze as much money as they can out of it now...

when the new one comes out, it'll be marked up anyways

Well, build 1 of 1 of the M5 Special Edition in Australia is sold, oh yeh it was the same colour as the M6 Special Edition, Frozen Grey metallic.

(apparently sold to a collector to hide in a shed somewhere
