just curious i just received the brochure for the 135

and it says 135 does 0-60 for auto 5.2 and for the 335i 0-60 5.6. i know the 335 is 200lb heavier but i figure .1-.2 the most.. why is difference this amount?

One reason is probably economics. The 335i is already a hot seller on its own now so it doesn't need the extra marketing support from BMW. BMW is now pumping up the marketing & advertising for the 1-series. They say it has the same power in a smaller/lighter body and it's a hot deal. However they don't mention the residual and money factor isn't as good as a 3-series right now if you choose to lease, because BMW needs to make their money back on the production of the 1-series coupes. It's all a marketing strategy, for the most part.

Reality - I'm sure we'll eventually start to see lots of side-by-side comparsons between the 135i and the 335i over time for some real-world numbers.

I can guarantee you that the 335xi is a lot faster than that

I had a Z3 M Coupe that hit around 5 secs 0-60 repeatedly. My 335xi (Auto) feels at least as fast as that if not faster but I have not officially tested it yet.

3 series just simply hold value better than the 1 series, and X3's in particular. Major part of the reason why I switched from X3 to 3 series, is because 3 series hold value much better.

In practice, the 335 (even the AT) seems to do around 5.0. I would expect the 135 to be very slightly faster but driver and road conditions are probably a bigger factor. It does have the Electronic LSD which apparently does not reduce engine power on wheel slip like the 335 does.

All of the magazines are getting 4.5-4.7 seconds 0-60 for the 135i. .89-.90 g on the skidpad and over 72 mph in the slalom. Edmunds even hit 109 ft during 60-0 braking. These are phenomenal numbers for a 300 hp/300 lb-ft tq, 3400 lb rwd car. Nate

0-60 is one of the most unprecise characteristics of modern cars. If you ask me that time should not even be published. 1/4 miles is what you should pay attention to.

I agree that 0-60 times are not the most important statistic by most peoples requirements but, a quarter mile time is for racer's. How often do you think the general public does a quarter mile run at full throttle? An occasional freeway on ramp maybe?

Not even....or you'd be seriously breaking the law by the time you've done 1/4 mile!
