Help, no crank no start only click

Hi everyone. For a long time I had a dying battery that I attributed to cold weather. Finally got it changed and a week later died again. Realized there was a parasitic drain somewhere so I started disconnecting the negative terminal when not driving. Couple days ago I gave my car a good full throttle and it was crapped out, started flashing drivetrain malfunction. Made it home and shut off the car, when I started it again no start or crank showing starter malfunction and drivetrain malfunction. Although I don’t believe it’s a starter problem. Any ideas?

Did you register the new battery after you installed it?

Does your code reader offer any clues?

How long have you owned?
Has any work on lubrication system, like OFHG or oil cooler, been performed?
Put battery on charger
Put socket on front crankshaft pulley bolt and confirm engine can be turned over. Only turn CW, not CCW, from front.

I get code 160504 for the PCV. But that shouldn’t cause a no crank issue, and it looks fine. The battery was also registered at BMW

Also, I had the code come up about a few days before the no crank, even with that code the car was running perfectly fine in terms of no bad idle or anything

Have you verified the output of your alternator? Should be around 14-14.5 VDC (if I recall correctly).

Could possibly be dealing with a seized motor. What engine do you have? Also have you done any maintenance like oil leak repairs or anything recently?
