I used to have something like these for my F31.
Having crocked my back a couple of times changing wheels I was happy with them.

These are really handy, forgot I had some... current car has studs so redundant right now.

Thankfully not had cause to use them yet but for a couple of quid worth chucking in the boot, you never know they could work and be the difference between being able to carry on under your own steam.
Had the misfortune of a 3" Hex bolt go right through the centre of a rear tyre last night whilst up in Manchester. Pleased to report after much swearing I managed to get the bolt out and plugged the hole with the above kit. Made the difference between getting home under my own steam and having the car recovered on a low loader .. which was what happened last time around.

Hardly a gizmo but a thumbs up from me for Sonax Xtreme Brilliant Shine Detailler, which I use after washng the car. Quick and easy to apply if you like a smart but not too shiny finish but can't be a*sed to spend ££ on products and hours on the job!!

But does the "Brilliant Shine Detailer" translate as "Restore With Brillo"??

Sonax is my go-to product also.
Primarily 'cos I'm a lazy bugger and more often than not can't be arsed with 'proper' wax.

Makes life so much easier when it comes to oil changes
Thanks for the link, just ordered one. I only have a 5L Pela which has never been a problem as I've never owned a big six-cylinder but it makes it hard to tell how much you've extracted from the BMW because you get to the 5L mark and then have to empty it. Which coats the entire inside of the sphere with black oil so good luck seeing how much you've pulled out on the second go...I actually ended up slightly overfilling it due to that and then having to Pela out some of the brand new oil before driving, so buying this bigger pump seems like a good idea for next time.

For anyone else considering, there's a 15% voucher applied at checkout for the next couple of days, making it ~£53

It's been a superb tool; I've got a 5L sphere one also and like you; trying to empty a 3.0l straight 6 petrol or diesel, it just gets messy with having to stop the flow to empty etc...

I have extended the drain line as it's not long enough to leave the pump on the floor and reach to the bottom of the sump etc

I used this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/163863949...r=463442863273

It fits over one of the drain lines that comes with the pump and onto the pump connection perfectly

Means you can have it set like this then:

Do you remember which size? The extractor comes with 4mm, 6mm and 10mm - I'm assuming 10mm will give the quickest flow but does it end up being too thick to fit properly in the dipstick hole?

Anyone used these on a petrol where there is no dipstick? How would that work?

As per the link; ID is 6mm, that's what connects to them tightly and fits down the tube perfectly

Ahh, gotcha, I just assumed 6mm was the default size on the listing, I didn't realise you could deep link to a specific SKU on eBay. I'll get a length of that ordered too, ta.

It wouldn't you're stuck with doing oil changes the traditional way.

You can't; the whole purpose is to use the dipstick tube rather than crawling underneath
