2015 C7 Z06

I read online that pricing for the 2015 corvette models are surfacing:
http://www.torquenews.com/106/2015-c...rice-and-value

For the Z06, it says prices are "somewhere in the area of $100,000 to $125,000". That's completely insane.
That is M6 category, and too close to 911 Turbo and 911 GT3 price category too.

With a base price of $53,000 for the base Stingray coupe, and the outgoing Z06 priced at $76,900 MSRP, I was expecting the new Z06 to be in the $80k range...
If it will be a $100k and over car, that's about a 40% increase in price compared to the outgoing Z06.

Thoughts?

The new Z06 will eat M6, 991 turbo & GT3 for a way cheaper price. Heck, a Carrera S base price is 100k and that gets you 400hp. 640hp from a way lighter car with a cassis that was developed along side the the C7R lemans racer... 100k is about right. Like most cars it is just moving up market. 991 TTS is around 200k these days!! Crazy times we live in

Even if it were priced that high(It wont), it will destroy everything anywhere near that price and much more. I would never buy an M6, 911 Turbo or a GT3 when I can get a Z06 to mop the floor with them.

They should have just called the car a Zr1 if thats where its priced at. i will not be a buyer of a corvette if its above 100k.

Wouldn't say that is concrete in saying the Z06 will be priced at $100K.

The actual content is the supposed leak of the 2015 Stingray pricing. Then they add in they expect the Z06 to start at $100K-$125K( which has been the common speculation ever since the Z06 debuted).

So in short, no actual content in relation to Z06 pricing.

I thought GM themselves said the Z06 fully optioned would be under 100k.

This. Maybe some insane dealers will mark the car up $30k from its stickered $90-$100k fully loaded price though.

M6? It can't even keep up with the current C6 Z06 or even a Boss 302 on a road course. The 911s will be left in the C7 Z06s dust, anywhere.

But considering they aren't going to be making a ZR1, then why is it going to be a shock if it's priced at or slightly above $100k? Its a way better car than the ZR1 is sooo......

Unlike the C6 Z06 which used a bespoke frame and engine which of course added tremendously to its cost versus the non-Z06 version, the C7 Z06 will use the regular C7 frame and engine, but with of course upgraded suspension; a wide body kit; oh and of course a S/C. This will help hold down costs greatly. Hence don't be surprised to be able to buy a basic C7 Z06 1LT for less than $80K and a loaded Z07 3LT version for < $100K.

Don't get me wrong, I don't like the M6 and would never buy it.
I was mentioning it simply because the M6 is considered a "premium", expensive and fast GT car. I love the C7, and it came a lo(ooo)ng way compared to the C6, but an any BMW or Porsche will have a better interior and built quality than a corvette unfortunately.

Considering performance only, sure the corvette was always good bang for the buck (and the new C7 is even better), but people spent the extra money for a reason, even twice as much for other cars with the same 'track measured' performance.

Overall GM came a long way with the new corvette and I love it, I was just hoping the C7 Z06 won't cost significantly more than the outgoing model (like they managed with the regular C7).

i think these's stingray's will be collectible one day. you can't say that about most cars made today. mind you, i'm not a corvette guy at all but it's attractive even to me.

the M6 will offer more in the daily drive side of things. better ride for roads, more luxury, 4 seats etc.. still very fast and very cool looking IMO.

The Z06 offers more in the wow factor, and performance.

The Z06 prices are pure speculation and rumors. It won't be that much.

There is also some video somewhere of a GM rep saying a fully loaded Z06 will be under $100k.

This thing would be a steal even at $125k.

$125k and no doubt will be recalled 4 times in the next two years. GM, the best car company tax payer dollars can fund.

That's approaching 991 GT3 prices, but most sellers are selling their $140k stickered GT3s for $170k.

Everyone seems to be quantifying the value of the new Z06 solely on the amount of horsepower it produces over its competitors and its performance capabilities. But for over 100k, you're now contending with premium cars like the GT3, R8, F-Type coupe, M6, etc. Yes, they will be slower than the new Z06, but it's not always about performance.

I'd take a GT3 in a heartbeat. I don't care if the Z06 will blow me away in a straight line. I do love the new Z06, though. I'd 100% take it over an M6.

The Z06 is way more then just the amount of horsepower it produces. It does everything in extreme. Those other cars you mention(besides the GT3) are all luxury GT cars. Not pure performance cars.
